Mentoring Con Ganas

Mentoring con GANAS is one of the many ways Latinx students can get connected and supported at UIC. Through our peer mentoring program first year and transfer Latinx students are paired with advanced Latinx UIC undergraduates before the start of the 2019 - 2020 academic year. Applications for Mentors will open this Friday. 

This is also a great opportunity for students to gain valuable leadership experience and can be put on Medical, Dental, PT, Pharmacy, and graduate school applications.

Internship with the LCC

The Latino Cultural Center (LCC) is offering internships for UIC students to expand their academic and professional capacity. DACA students are encouraged to apply for any of the following positions:

Graduate Exam Preparation
Free MCAT/ GRE/ DAT Prep at UIC
Apply to the GRE/MCAT/DAT Prep Program (GMDP), which is meant to prepare students from disadvantaged backgrounds to be competitive applicants for graduate or professional school. The core experience for program participants will be a test preparation course for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE), Dental Admissions Test (DAT), or Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) examinations. The program is free for those that are accepted.

L@s GANAS invites you to kick off the New Year and the beginning of the semester with a dodgeball event. The purpose of the event is to offer an opportunity for students and faculty to get to know one another while having fun playing games such as dodgeball, basketball, and volleyball. The Counseling Center welcomes all UIC students to attend the 4-workshop Love Series, discussing the psychology behind multiple phases of dating and romantic relationships. The first workshop will discuss online dating.

Research Opportunities
ChicagoCHEC Research Fellows Program 2019
The applications for the ChicagoCHEC fellows program is now open! This program is a comprehensive learning experience for undergraduate and postbaccalaureate students at Northeastern Illinois University, University of Illinois at Chicago, Northwestern University, the City Colleges of Chicago, and other community/junior colleges in the Chicago metropolitan area who are planning to apply to graduate or medical school.

REACH Medical Summer Research
This research opportunity is geared towards Pre-Med Students. The Carle Illinois College of Medicine REACH program is an intensive clinical and research immersion summer experience for undergraduate students in order to aid in their preparation for medical school and grow the presence of underrepresented minorities in medicine.

LGS- SOAR Program
The LGS-SOAR (Summer Opportunity for Academic Research) program supports potential Laney Graduate School undergraduate applicants who wish to explore, experience and conduct full-time independent and mentored research for the summer. 
This is a summer research opportunity geared towards minority and underserved students looking to get their feet wet in the area of scientific research.
