Living in a world with all of the distortions of normal that we’ve had in the last two and a half years, we see that there are a lot of ways our emotions and our reactions to things are exaggerated or over-the-top. Our reactions tend to harm the relationships that we are in. We wonder why it’s so challenging to be able to find peace, stay out of fear, and live in Kingdom - Let alone understand what Kingdom even looks like.
I’ve heard of many churches offering trauma-informed classes to make sense of the chaos and pain. That’s wonderful. We must be informed that these emotional reactions can be part of the trauma that we’ve lived through just in the last two and a half years, let alone our histories. But what we need is a trauma response.
That’s the relevance of Discovering MErcy.
Our curriculum offers a trauma response so that you can understand what it is to be human. Discovering MErcy’s unique approach merges the most up-to-date knowledge from the fields of psychology, neurobiology, trauma, developmental research, and attachment theory with solid biblical theology.
The development aspect of our organization is focused on equipping churches, organizations, professionals, and lay people with the tools necessary to build trauma-response spaces into their daily lives. At the most foundational level, this includes: supporting and teaching emotional regulation, understanding the basic emotional, mental, and social consequences of trauma, and building healthy relationships and connectedness.
The Discovering ME: Foundational Counseling Course is designed for those who value personal growth and development and are ready to discover the tools needed to embrace a life lived wholeheartedly. This class is ideal for any leader, church advisor, mental health professional, and/or layperson who desires to better understand how the language of your own heart impacts your ability to effectively interact with and help others.
