Save the Date for CASA Day at the Capitol 2025
Join the CASA network in Austin on March 27 for the 2025 CASA Day at the Capitol! Hundreds of CASA advocates from all over the state will be visiting their legislative officials to spread the word about CASA and to raise awareness about the challenges facing the child welfare system. Additionally, instead of a Legislative Reception, Texas CASA will be hosting a Volunteer Appreciation Reception the night before on March 26. Registration for both events will open in January 2025.

Finding Your Resilience: STAR Webinar Recording

Holidays can be hard for CASA staff and volunteers, and the children and families we serve. Finding Your Resilience is a STAR webinar with special guest presenters Dr. Cynthia Lietz and Breanna Carpenter from Arizona State University. They discuss the ten most important strengths identified through research that activate resilience in the people you serve and even in yourself. This webinar counts towards continuing education requirements for both staff and volunteers. STAR monthly Zoom trainings will return in January 2025.

Recruitment Bounty: Tip of the Month
Libraries are full of stories and so are the CASA volunteers and families we work with every day. Team up with your local library to tell a CASA story. Create a flier or trifold with a story of a CASA volunteer and a family they served to leave at the library for visitors to take home. Include information on how to get involved with your program. Switch out the story on a monthly or quarterly basis to keep repeat visitors engaged. You can also ask to host an information session at the library. Check out this tri-fold story example from CASA of the South Plains. (This is technically a giving mailer but can easily be converted into a volunteer leave-behind. The main focus is the story.)
