NEW TERMINAL PROJECT

With a focus on the needs of the future, the Des Moines Airport Authority Board voted to move forward with the planning and development of a new terminal. The project aims to lift the passenger experience by modernizing and streamlining the travel journey while supporting the local economy by elevating the region through air service connectivity.

As the central Iowa region has grown, so has the number of residents opting to fly for business and pleasure. This project aids in the community's ability to attract businesses and talent to central Iowa. Connectivity is a vital piece of the economic development engine.

As the Des Moines Airport Authority moves forward in modernizing and enhancing the experience for residents and visitors utilizing the airport campus, Project Lift DSM will culminate with a new terminal building, which is one of the largest capital expansion projects in the United States for small hub airports like Des Moines. Prairie Meadows is proud to be a part of this project as a core part of our mission is focused on expanding economic development and tourism.

2023 VETERANS DAY

Prairie Meadows and Polk County hosted a Veterans Day celebration at the Meadows Events Center on Friday, November 10. Veterans and the public were invited to a special “Saluting Our Veterans” ceremony honoring our nation’s heroes. Attendees enjoyed free lunch, live music, military displays, and remarks from local and national leaders. We extend our sincere thanks to those who have served, and to those currently serving our country.

Prairie Meadows- Dedicated to Advancing Vital Community Projects
2022 Legacy Grant Amount Awarded: $300,000.00

Prairie Meadows proudly champions progress in our community by providing a $300,000 Legacy Grant towards Des Moines Public Schools' first-class athletic venue, Mediacom Stadium, at Drake University. This initiative creates a home for over 40 athletic teams. The new venue includes general updated amenities, parking, and ADA compliant features. These updates will drive more engagement with high school soccer and football games, and NCAA Division I soccer through a high-quality and family-friendly fan experience. Additionally, it will offer a venue for other competitive events in the Des Moines area. Our commitment to advancing vital community projects fosters a brighter future for all.

EMPLOYEE GIVING

G.I.V.E. FOUNDATION
2023 G.I.V.E. Golf Classic Raises
$81,998.64 For Veterans

Prairie Meadows was a proud host of the seventh annual G.I.V.E. Golf Classic at Terrace Hills Golf Course in Altoona on September 8. All proceeds from the tournament were donated to the not-for-profit organization, Golf for Injured Veterans Everywhere, a supportive community that provides golf training for Iowa’s injured and disabled Veterans. Prairie Meadows was proud to present G.I.V.E. with a $81,998.64 check at our “Saluting our Veterans” celebration ceremony on November 10.

Glanton Event

The Glanton Fund supports Des Moines University’s goal to create a campus environment that encourages an appreciation for the cultural differences that exist in society and attracts students of all backgrounds to be part of the university and the greater Des Moines community.

The fund generates scholarships for students with significant financial need with preference given to those whose qualities best align with DMU’s mission and values. The fund is also used for programming related to diversity initiatives. Prairie Meadows takes great pride in partnering with meaningful events that strengthen and expand opportunities, infrastructure, and services offered within our community.

IOWA GOLF ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION
2023 Legacy Grant Amount Awarded: $25,000

The Iowa Golf Association Foundation was created to promote and advance the game of golf in Iowa as an amateur sport offering golf instruction to youth with an emphasis on disadvantaged youth. Golf House Iowa will serve as a springboard to create new opportunities to preserve, promote and advance the game of golf throughout Iowa. The facility will be open to all and will include facilities to introduce the game to beginners. Golf House Iowa will also honor the history of the game as well as provide necessary office and meeting space for four different non-profit organizations that work for the betterment of the game. Golf is a lifelong sport. It teaches patience, is an opportunity for social interaction, and provides necessary mental and physical exercise for a lifetime. This project will welcome thousands to Golf House Iowa each year. Projects like this make a difference in the everyday lives of those in our community.

ON WITH LIFE FOUNDATION
2022 Legacy Grant Amount Awarded: $275,000

On With Life opened its doors in 1991 with the purpose of assisting survivors and their families facing the challenge of a brain injury, in rebuilding their lives. Our grant will provide On With Life the ability to grow their impact by expanding capacity, increasing the number of individuals served, and providing further support to caregivers and families.
