Our Child Life Team Grows to Four!
The Seraph-McSparren Pediatric Inpatient Center welcomed its first patients this past fall, and the response from the families with children who receive care on this extraordinary floor of LGH are feelings of gratitude. The new Center was made possible almost entirely through community support, with more than $9.6 million raised through the Soaring to New Heights pediatric campaign. We are grateful to all our generous campaign donors, especially to The Seraph Foundation, who provided the lead, naming gift for this project. The new facility, staffed by pediatric hospitalists from Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and pediatric certified nurses who provide expert care to children and adolescents, enables LGH to provide enhanced pediatric medical care closer to home.
Thanks to philanthropy, we initiated a new Child Life program at LG Health. We now have four Child Life Specialists who are dedicated to helping children and families cope with hospitalization and medical procedures. Our newest Child Life Specialist, Janet, will provide support to children in our Emergency Room.
Although our campaign concluded in December, our work to support the children and families in the Pediatric Center isn’t done yet! Throughout the coming months, we will be working to continue to build the Child Life Endowment, which will allow us to add additional Child Life Specialists to tend to the unique needs of our youngest patients.
