2016 CMC Stewardship Project Preview

Join the CMC Stewardship Team on an important conservation project this summer!
Burn Canyon Trails:  Maintenance, restoration and construction of new BLM trails near Norwood
Paonia Wilderness Trails:  Crosscut saw project to clear downed trees and conduct trail maintenance in the West Elk & Raggeds Wilderness Areas near Paonia
Third Gulch Riparian Restoration:  Fence removal to improve wildlife access to water and riparian habitat near Eagle
Continental Divide National Scenic Trail:  Maintenance and visitor use monitoring along the CDT/Colorado Trail near Salida, Buena Vista and Leadville

CMC Signs on to support Continental Divide Wilderness & Recreation Act

This proposal includes protection for 58,000 acres in Summit and Eagle Counties including 3 new Wilderness areas, 5 Wilderness expansions, and several Special/Recreation Management Areas.  The designation will help to protect a variety of human-powered backcountry recreation opportunities and we are excited to help preserve this important landscape.

Rio Grande National Forest Planning

March 30 - Webinar  Forest staff will present the Need For Change document which outlines the priorities to be addressed in the Forest Planning Process.

Free National Park Days

The National Park Service turns 100 years old in 2016 and they will be offering 16 fee-free days in 2016 to celebrate. Mark your calendars:
April 16-24: National Park Week
August 25-28: NPS Birthday
September 24: National Public Lands Day
November 11: Veterans Day
