Dear Traveler:

Sleigh bells ring! Are you listening? I sure am. Up at Adventurist HQ, I’ve added a few jingle bells to the old mountain bike to ring in the season. There’s a fair amount of action up in the forest this year. This morning, I was informed by a very special North Pole delegation that Ol’ Mister C, the big St. Nick himself, had recently booked a night at an undisclosed Transylvania location to de-stress post-Holiday rush and possibly try out a couple of trails. No word yet on how Rudolph handles on single tracks, but I will, of course, keep you updated.

In the meantime, there’s plenty to do and see out there almost every day if you’re keeping an eye on the advent calendar: parades, presents, Christmas trees, carolers, art, drama, adventure and all the cozy small-town charm you can handle. When it comes to holiday, we are totally in the zone and trust me when I tell you, we can’t wait for you to help us celebrate a White (Squirrel) Christmas with all the trimmings.

Celebrate the spirit of the season with over thirty local vendors showing off some of the best of what this community has to offer with arts, crafts and other goods that maybe-just maybe-could end up being the best gift ever. 

You’re free to celebrate the season whatever way you see fit, but Santa suggests that you shake, rattle and roll into Brevard for this year’s Christmas Parade and Twilight Tour. This year’s parade celebrates old and new traditions with a “Remembering the Past, Embracing the Future” theme. After Santa concludes the parade, stick around as downtown Brevard is transformed into a sparkling winter wonderland as part of the Twilight Tour, where the Yulest of the Yule can enjoy live music, carriage rides, yummy treats and lots more. 

It might seem impossible, but this year Brevard Parks and Rec are going to raise the bar on Christmas fun with a family-friendly extravaganza of nearly North Pole proportions. Ride on the Polar Express Train, make new friends at the petting zoo, visit Buddy the Elf’s workshop and so much more. Advance tickets required, because elves are sticklers for details. 

Modeled on an event first held at King’s College Chapel at Cambridge University nearly 100 years ago, this free program of carols and scriptures performed by the Chamber Chorale and Concert Choir evoke mysteries of times past and bring joy to holidays present and future. 

Ring in the holidays with the big names in holiday entertainment for the last two centuries with the Brevard Philharmonic and Carolina Concert Choir. This matinee performance features Christmas classics from Tchaikovsky, Handel and Bizet, and enough beautiful music to resonate throughout the season.   

Need to do a little last-minute Christmas Shopping? Why not do it on this stylish, festive Friday night event?  Sip wine, view the best new works in Brevard galleries and do a little shopping at your favorite local boutiques. 

2018 may be headed out like yesterday’s fashions, but 2019 is in the wings ready to shake off the old and send in the new. Those looking to cheer in the New Year with awesome live bands and serious beer could do worse than join the party people over at Oskar Blues for this  spectacular anniversary event. Southern Culture on the Skids, Johnny Fritz and Pretty Little Goat will take the stage alongside an array of delicious beers and  the Oskar Blues CHUBwagon for late night snacks.
