Applications are open and will close May 11 at 11:59pm.
The myCHOICE Externships are designed to provide Graduate and Postdoctoral scientists with practical, hands-on, and mentored experience in diverse career fields. myCHOICE is teaming with on- and off-campus partners to provide a diverse array of externships that will be announced on April 17. All myCHOICE externships are unpaid and part-time (10 hours per week), lasting approximately 10 weeks.

myCHOICE Mini-Course: Building Effective Relationships |
|
|
|
May 12, 14, 19 and 21; 11:45 - 1:15 p.m. CST
This mini-course helps participants build effective professional relationships through structured, theory-informed reflection. Participants will explore core theoretical frames that shape effective relationships and apply these frames to their own and others’ cases to generate concrete strategies for improving communication, alignment, and mutual understanding. By the end of the course, participants will have a sharper conceptual toolkit and practical approaches to build effective, trust-rich, and productive professional and academic connections.

Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) play a critical role in connecting scientific research with clinical practice. Join us for a panel discussion with MSLs who engage with physicians, clinical researchers, and healthcare professionals to communicate scientific evidence and support the appropriate use of new therapies. Panelists will share insights into their day-to-day responsibilities, the skills needed to succeed in this field, and how STEM PhDs can transition from academic research into these scientifically focused, field-based roles.

Google PhD Fellowship
Internal Nomination Deadline: April 10
The university can nominate up to four students each year for the Google PhD Fellowship, which provides up to two years of funding to support PhD research in eligible fields of study. The program was created to recognize outstanding graduate students doing exceptional work in computer science and related research areas.

Schmidt Science Fellows Program
Internal Nomination Deadline: April 10
The university can nominate up to seven students each year for the Schmidt Science Fellows Program. The fellowship offers a stipend of $110,000 to conduct a full-time, postdoctoral research study in a field-leading laboratory, focusing on a discipline in the natural sciences, engineering, mathematics or computing that is different from their existing area of expertise and planned future focus.
In order to be eligible, individuals must have received or expect to receive a PhD between May 1, 2026 and June 30, 2027. International applicants may apply for this award.

The HFSP fellowship program supports proposals for frontier, potentially transformative research in the life sciences. Applications for high-risk projects are particularly encouraged. The projects should be interdisciplinary in nature and should challenge existing paradigms by using novel approaches and techniques. Scientifically, they should address an important problem or a barrier to progress in the field.
