First Grade Grandparents' Day

"What children need most are the essentials that grandparents provide in abundance. They give unconditional love, kindness, patience, humor, comfort, lessons in life. And, most importantly, cookies."  ~Rudy Giuliani

St. Michael's was delighted to welcome over 100 grandparents to our School on Friday for a fun-filled morning of singing, love notes and family tree activities. This annual First Grade tradition has been a part of St. Michael's for decades and is a special time for children and grandparents to connect and spend time together.
Many of our grandparents and special guests traveled near and far to be a part of this day. Thank you so much for coming! (And many thanks to all of the first grade families who volunteered to make this event such a success!)
Be sure to check out the School's Media Gallery for more fun photos and videos of the day!

Easter Holidays

A friendly reminder that St. Michael's will be CLOSED on Friday, April 19, and Monday, April 22, in observance of the Easter holiday.

Registration NOW OPEN for 2019-2020 Extended Day

Our Extended Programs continue to grow in enrollment and offerings aimed at meeting the needs of our students and families beyond the school day. We hear continuously that families and students alike love the program, and feel loved by the experienced and talented teachers.

In 2019-20, program highlights will continue to include supervised study halls, ample opportunities to play outside and indoors, and a strong sense of community with particular emphasis on student socialization. Enrollment in the Core Extended Day Program includes FREE enrollment for all half-days and clerical days. Families may select from several enrollment plans. Those on 3 and 2-day plans may schedule which days of the week are most convenient. As in years past, additional enrichment classes and vacation camps will be available for an additional fee.

Early morning gym care will continue to be available free of charge for all students beginning at 7:20 a.m. No need to sign-up, just drop-off children when it’s helpful to you.

ENROLLMENT: To enroll your child in St. Michael’s Extended Programs Core Extended Day for the upcoming school year, please go to the registration button below and select the applicable enrollment plan. Families of Middle School students will have additional opportunities to enroll in conjunction with fall, winter, and spring co-curricular sign-ups.   A separate form must be completed FOR EACH CHILD.

Similar to the School enrollment contract, completing this digital contract by May 3, 2019, will entitle your family to a $50 discount for each child enrolled in the Core Extended Day program.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Along with submitting the signed digital contract, to secure your child's spot, a $200 Lower School deposit or $50 Middle School deposit MUST be submitted to the School by May 3. Checks may be made payable to St. Michael's Episcopal School.

Thank you for entrusting St. Michael's with the care of your child. We look forward to another great year in Extended Day!

Staff News

After meaningful tenures with our community, two of our beloved staff, Laurel Nelson (Middle School Admissions Associate) and Allyson Steele (Director of Extended Programs) will not be with us next school year.
Laurel Nelson shared that this has been an incredibly difficult decision as her heart is always with St. Michael's. However, now is the right time for her to have a more flexible schedule in order to travel with her husband, Brooks, and spend more time with her family. Laurel has been an indispensable member of the advancement team since 2009, working in development and admissions. For the past three years, she has taken the lead role in Middle School admissions helping guide the School’s enrollment expansion in the area. Recently, she also played a key role in launching our new online enrollment system. Kind, hard-working, reliable, and fun, Laurel is St. Michael’s personified.
Allyson Steele has also decided to step back from her role as Director of Extended Programs for family and health reasons. Since joining St. Michael’s in 2016, Allyson accomplished a great deal. She built the church’s nascent extended day program into a beloved cornerstone of the School with nearly well over half of St M students now participating in one way or another. From morning gym to the core extended day program, to a host of enrichment opportunities, Allyson and the remarkable staff she has assembled have extended the School's mission from 7:20 a.m. to 6 p.m. Her work continued into the summer, launching St. Michael’s vibrant Summer Program in 2017. Always one to step up and say, “Sure, I’ll help.” Allyson also took the reins of the hot lunch program, helping ensure continued delivery of healthy meals for our students. Allyson will continue in her current role through summer 2019.
Laurel and Allyson leave indelible marks on St. Michael's and our love and best wishes go with them as they begin their next adventures outside of our School walls.
