Starstruck
  • As part of their study of Broadway musicals in music class, our eighth graders skyped with Tony and Grammy award nominated actor/singer/songwriter Brandon Victor Dixon, who is currently playing Aaron Burr in the acclaimed Broadway production of Hamilton: An American Musical. Mr. Dixon shared stories about the musical and his life as an actor, and even rapped and sang a few song lyrics. A BIG thank you to Brandon and to Craig and Hilary Dixon for bringing this cultural experience to our Dragons and for donating two tickets to see Hamilton on Broadway to our St M Auction!
  • From binary stars orbiting each other and clear views of craters on the moon to glimpses of Saturn and Mars, there were so many interesting things to see in the night sky on Tuesday! As our eighth grade students are studying astronomy, Middle School science teacher, Tim Winkler, invited our students to an astronomy night at the Middle School to view these celestial bodies through his telescopes.

 Important Announcements:
Join us for "Meetings with Michael"
Join Mr. Turner to discuss "How to ask about recess: Partnering with teachers to support children's social-emotional growth."  Play, especially unstructured play, offers children the opportunity to practice social skills and deepen emotional maturity. Understanding one's own emotions, interpreting and responding to others emotions, decision-making, creativity, and communication are all on display and in demand on the playground.

Merrill Geier, our Lower School coordinator, will share how St M supports children as they learn to apply lessons in empathy, enabling them to create positive social/emotional relationships before, during, and after recess.

  • Wednesday, November 2, 1:40-2:40 p.m., (Lower School, Dundas Hatcher Hall)
  • Thursday, November 3, 7:20 a.m.-8:20 a.m. (Lower School, Dundas Hatcher Hall)

School Pictures Update
LOWER SCHOOL: School pictures are in for the Lower School and were sent home in backpacks on Friday.  Thanks for checking your child's backpack. Contact Tracy Ward with any questions or make-up photo needs.
MIDDLE SCHOOL: We are still awaiting delivery of the Middle School student photos as there was a delay in processing. We will keep you updated as to when you can expect them. Thanks for your patience.
(Safe) Hydration is Good
It's a great idea for students to have reasonably-sized water bottles at school. Bottles should be washed at home on a regular basis. We ask that no glass bottles, even in a rubber wrapper, be sent.
Running a Little Late?
When dropping off (even a little) late, students must be checked-in by an adult at the office. Please do not drop 'n' drive at the office the way we do during morning drop-off. This is to ensure we have accurate attendance and know where students are at all times.
Lower School Author Visit!
New York Times Bestselling Author Geoff Rodkey is coming to St. Michael's School on Friday, October 28th! He is visiting in celebration of the latest book in his Tapper Twins Series, The Tapper Twins Run for President, and will be speaking to our 3rd-5th graders.

You may purchase autographed books for your child on bbgb's website at bbgbbooks.com/book-buzz. We are receiving a 15% discount when you use coupon code stm15. At check-out choose school delivery, then select St. Michael's Episcopal School and indicate your child's name, teacher and to whom the book(s) should be signed. Please place your order by Wednesday, October 19th. You may call bbgb with any questions at 804.353.5675 or email Mrs. Wise (cwise@stmschool.net) .
