Family Cooking Classes for the FitFamilies Program
FoodWIse and the Fond du Lac County WIC (Women, Infants, and Children) Program partnered to offer a family cooking class for parents and children participating in the FitFamilies program.
Both FoodWIse and FitFamilies are Supplemental Nutrition Education (SNAP-Ed) programs. FitFamilies is for parents of 2-4-year-olds enrolled in WIC and interested in working more in-depth on health-related goals.

Polishing Life Skills
With schools finishing up the year 4-H is gearing up for many summer activities and programming. June is a busy month as youth can participate in the annual Clothing Revue, Foods Revue, Cloverbud & Foodie Day Camps, dairy judging practices, Area Animal Science Days, and many project meetings taking place. All these opportunities provide youth the chance to learn new things and gain practical life skills.

Welcome Liz Gartman!
Liz Gartman is our new Regional Crops & Soils Educator for Sheboygan, Fond du Lac, Washington & Ozaukee counties. Liz spent the early part of her career as a livestock feed specialist for a local co-op, was most recently an Agriculture Instructor at Lakeshore Technical College, and spent most of her life living and working on a farm. In her spare time, she coaches livestock and dairy quiz bowl/skillathon, raises beef and dairy cattle with her family, and spends her summers showing cattle around the state. Liz will have a focus on forage and is looking forward to working with producers to support their operations.

Youth Tractor & Machinery Safety Certification
The Wisconsin Youth Tractor & Machinery Safety Certification Program is designed to meet requirements established by the US Department of Labor, pertaining to special provisions made for the employment of youth ages 14-15 on farms not operated by their parents. In addition, Wisconsin Act 455 provides specific provisions for tractor operation by 12-13 year olds. In order for a youth to successfully complete the program and receive the Wisconsin Safe Operation of Tractor and Machinery Certificate of Training he or she must:
- attend 24 hours of instructional training
- pass a written exam with a score of 70% or greater;
- and pass a driving exam, which demonstrates competent tractor driving ability in a course with a trailered implement.

Harvesting Alfalfa to Ensure Quality Feedstuff
Local dairy farmers want high quality alfalfa haylage for their cows, especially the first cutting of this 4-cut crop since it provides over half of the total haylage harvest for the year. Farmers wait 28-30 days between cuttings to harvest the optimal quality in haylage, but how do we determine when to cut the first crop?

Regional Dairy Educator Receives Distinguished Service Award
Regional Dairy Educator Tina Kohlman recently received the Wisconsin Association of County Agricultural Educators (WACAA) Distinguished Service Award. The Distinguished Service Award recognizes and encourages continued excellence in the field of professional Extension for members with more than 10 years of service. Kohlman has conducted outstanding programming in dairy replacement (calf and heifer management) and animal welfare and husbandry for the last 24 years.

Welcome Kelly Dione!
Kelly Dione is the new Extension Community Youth Development Educator in Washington and Fond du lac Counties. Kelly brings her experience as a Pre-College Advisor and YES Program Manager United Community Center, Milwaukee, where she supervised and coordinated all programming of the YES program. She also has served as a Youth Program Manager –Youth Empowered to Succeed (YES) Marquette University, Milwaukee where she mentored Hispanic middle school students and facilitated high school choices, career exploration, cultural events, and summer programming.

Youth will try different recipes and compile a recipe book at the end of camp. Each day youth will have the chance to practice different skills while cooking in the kitchen.

Cloverbud Day Camp: Superheroes in the Community

Superheroes in our Community - Be a superhero for the day at Superheroes in our Community. Campers are encouraged to dress like their favorite superheroes! Youth will learn about different superheroes in the Fond du Lac County Community. The day will consist of various guest speakers such as police officers, firefighters, teachers, farmers, etc. Youth will participate in an obstacle course, learn about the superpowers of the community superheroes, and create their own superheroes at camp!
LEGO Camp

LEGO Camp is a camp for youth to learn different LEGO building skills. The LEGO Club and the project is growing fast. Join us during this camp and get a taste of what LEGO Club is like! Youth will build different creations with LEGO bricks at the office. No need to bring any from home! Youth will also learn about different building and engineering techniques, as well as do some LEGO crafts they can take home! Youth will work as a team to complete a challenge, so let’s get building!
