We hope you are enjoying your summer. With Commencement behind us, the staffs at the Graduate Student Resource Center and the Graduate Division are hard at work planning for the new academic year. New this summer is a "Dissertation Writer's Room" we have opened in the Student Resource Building. This quiet, comfortable, and light-filled space in a downstairs meeting room in the SRB is the perfect place to work on your dissertation. Coffee, water, and snacks are provided. We hope you will take advantage of this great free resource offered to you through Sept. 19. ... The Graduate Student Resource Center would like to welcome Shawn Warner-Garcia, our new Professional Development Peer Advisor. Shawn is a doctoral student in the Linguistics Department with interdisciplinary emphases in Feminist Studies; Applied Linguistics; and Language, Interaction, and Social Organization. Shawn will be organizing workshops and meeting with students one-on-one to help them achieve their professional goals, as well as writing for the GradPost. Milestone Commencement Celebrations
Academic achievements, excellence, and milestones were marked during both Graduate Division's and Bren School's Commencement ceremonies in June. At the Graduate Division ceremony, the first Feminist Studies Ph.D. degree was conferred. And at Bren School's Commencement, the 1,000th degree was conferred.
