Giving Back to EO Through Forums
Joining EO four years ago, I'm amazed to see how far I've come since then. The positive impact EO had on my business, New York Engineers, and life, has been tremendous—freeing myself to work on the business, not in it; launching an office in India and leading 40 engineers globally; now pivoting into construction tech from from our original traditional archictural engineering beginning. I wanted to give back to the organization that gave me so much, so this year I became the Forum Chair.
Here's the top things I'm focusing on to enhance your EO experience:
1. Transparency in forum placement. This includes publishing the list of members looking to join forums and forums looking for mates monthly. Going forward, a group of all stakeholders in the process—including moderators and members looking for forums—will meet to further refine this process, making it faster and easier than ever. Look for this to come soon.
2. Sharing best practices across forums. Nat Milner is hosting moderator events designed to have moderators share struggles and success. Don't try to figure everything out on your own! Our chapter of 27 forums is a tremendous resource to each other. My own forum implemented a new presentation method and a new retreat excercise from these moderator events. Use this resource to enhance your forum. Discussions with other moderators will lead to breakthrough moments in your forum! Don't get stale, change things up.
3. Quarterly forum placement mixers. A place where you can meet your fellow members face to face as a first step.
4. Auto-launch of new members into their own new forums. This is a best practice we've seen in other chapters. We build off the natural bonding that happens in forum training, and launch them into their own forum.
Our chapter by the numbers:
Total forum count:
24 member forums
2 spousal forums
1 key executive forums
10 forums looking to add a mate
8 members looking to join forums
New forums started this year:
3 member forums
1 spousal forum
Wishing you all many lifechanging, breakthrough moments in your forum experience! That's the whole point :-)
