Women’s History Month, celebrated every March, is an annual commemoration of the pivotal role women have played in American history. The national theme for 2024 is "Women Who Advocate for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion.” Yesterday, we celebrated with an event in the SSC Quad featuring local women-owned businesses, community partners, and on-campus organizations. Lunar New Year Celebration
On February 22, IVC honored the Year of the Dragon during the Lunar New Year celebration. The event featured a gallery walk, food, and a traditional dance lesson and performance by the South Coast Chinese Culture Center. See Photos »
Diego Victoria Selected to the 2024-All USA Academic Team
The Associated Students of IVC (ASIVC) President Diego Victoria is one of 20 college students named to the prestigious 2024 All-USA Academic Team. He will receive a $5,000 scholarship. Diego, who was selected from more than 2,000 students, was recognized for his academic achievements, campus and community engagement, as well as overall leadership. He will be honored when he accompanies IVC President John Hernandez to the Phi Theta Kappa's Presidents' Breakfast on April 8. Read More »
IVC's New AS degree in Game and Interactive Media Art Design, Production Management IVC’s Art Department is proud to introduce a new degree offering — an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Game and Interactive Media Art Design, Production Management. The degree path will provide instruction for creating digital art assets for games and interactive media arts (virtual/augmented/mixed realities, virtual filmmaking, projection mapping, and related interactive media events) using industry-standard software, game engines, and Artificial Intelligence. The program is constructed to provide an emphasis on designing and creating digital art assets for production and managing these projects using an iterative process and the associated budgeting, scheduling, and program management pipelines. Baseball Team Gets a Win on Friday Over LA Mission
Irvine Valley's baseball team bounced back from a tough, extra-inning loss last Thursday at LA Valley with a solid win on Friday at home. After falling to LA Valley, 3-1, in extra innings, the Lasers defeated LA Mission, 9-6, the following day. Orange Empire Conference play began yesterday with a game against Orange Coast. The Lasers will play Orange Coast again tomorrow for an away game at 2 pm, then return home Saturday for a game at noon. Read More »
IVC MUN Strikes Gold at Regional Conference
On March 2, IVC’s Model United Nations team participated in the regional Inland Empire Conference for Model UN (IECMUN 2024) hosted by Riverside City College. The team of 12 won four awards, the most number of awards won by any college in attendance. This included the Best Delegate award, an Outstanding Delegate award, a Distinguished Delegate award, and an Honorable mention. Irvine Valley College (IVC) alumna Kim Virrueta's story is not a conventional one. Three weeks after receiving her high school diploma in 1992, she found out she was pregnant at age 17.
