Career Navigator News is a monthly newsletter from your Career Navigators, MaryAnne Smith and Nick Wobig.

Healthcare Month

We are one week away from a deep dive into the healthcare spectrum and are excited to announce a new record in participating professionals and businesses on FutureForward™. With nearly 1/3 of surveyed students interested in a career in healthcare, this will surely be an opportunity these students and teachers won't want to miss. There are videos and interviews from nurses and doctors to volunteer ambulance crew members and health unit coordinators.

We scoured the area to find resources for our students interested in the healthcare field, and found that there are so many people who have not only set out to do good for their patients, but want to support their communities and the next generation of healthcare workers.

Wrapping Projects

Your Winter break may have been filled with wrapping presents for loved ones at home. Teachers are wrapping up projects and winding down for the end of first semester. Congratulations! You’re almost there! Enjoy a Year in Review with Career Navigators!

Looking ahead to spring semester classes, we are gearing up for a few different activities for schools. Careers classes plan for students to explore local careers through FutureForward™ and learn how to connect with area professionals for informational interviews. Counselors prepare mock interviews for seniors.

Shaping our 2021 work, we are referring to students' responses to a student survey sent to each school this fall. 306 students have responded.  If you would like more input from your school, let’s do it!

BCC Virtual Career Fair

February 4th and 5th, your Career Navigators will be hosting a virtual career fair for all BCC schools and students to attend. We will have guest speakers from all 16 career clusters who will give a 30-minute presentation about their role, company, and experience, followed by a live Q&A session. Speaker sessions will occur every hour from 8 am to 3 pm on February 4th, and 8 am to noon on February 5th. An itinerary with details about each session will be sent to schools so students can choose which sessions to join as they align with their interests. Teachers can use this as a classroom tool, or for individual students. For more information, or to make a speaker request, please contact your Career Navigators!
