As a PENCIL Partner with Overton High School, Hiller hosts regular, on-site lessons and demonstrations, providing students with career pathways in the heating and cooling trades. Seasoned professional technicians demonstrate common trade skills, talk about their work and answer students’ questions in a close, hands-on environment that fosters future career interest.
This semester, a full-time HVAC educator was hired to teach students at Overton. A passionate educator, Sparks claims his education style is unconventional, but effective.
“I’m not afraid to do a little extra to make sure the kids have a grasp of what they’re doing,” Sparks said. “I want them to walk out the door and go to Hiller or any other company and get a job. That’s what I am here for.”
