Individual voices matter, but collective advocacy drives real change. In this month’s Louisville Medicine, our members wrote about how physicians can find common ground, build consensus and speak up – all for the advancement of patient care.

For Dr. Andrew Hart, medicine has been a lifelong journey of dedication and compassion. Growing up in Evansville, Indiana, he was endlessly curious about how the human body works. Now at Baptist Health Louisville, he cherishes every milestone – birthdays, anniversaries, and recoveries – that his care helps make possible. “The people I can cure are the biggest wins,” he says. Outside the clinic, he’s a devoted husband and father of three, adventuring with his family through skiing, travel and Scouts, always balancing life, work and learning.

Louisville Medicine upcoming themes: |
January 2026 – due 12/1 – Pushing Boundaries and Revolutionizing Care
From genomics and regenerative medicine to 3D printing and AI-powered diagnostics, advancements in specialty medicine are rapidly reshaping medicine. Explore a breakthrough in your field—or one that inspires you. How is it changing care? And how do we balance progress with ethics, privacy, equity and safety?
February 2026 – due 1/1 – Better Together: The Value of Membership
Professional organizations like GLMS support physicians as leaders, advocates and lifelong learners. What does your membership mean to you? How has organized medicine shaped your career, connected you to community or amplified your voice? Reflect on how local, state and national groups support your growth and purpose in medicine.
Please reach out to Kathryn Vance at kathryn.vance@glms.org if you’d like to share your thoughts in an upcoming issue.
