I love learning from our staff members. Twice in recent years, staff members have said to me, “The people of Tallowood are my people.” This is my story, too. We do not just go to the church, but we belong to it as we belong to our families.
In Corinth, Paul faced opposition. One way to deal with difficulty is to run away from it. But God told Paul to stay in Corinth. Notice God’s reasoning: I am with you and I have many people in this city. Fortified with the promise of God’s protection through his people, Paul continued to teach the word of God for another year and a half.
Today, I ran into one of our graduating seniors who is headed off to college. I encouraged him to find community with God’s people in his new location. He had already identified two churches in that city. Wherever we live, we may be sure that God has people there. Connect your life with the people of God. Knit your soul to them. Don’t just go to church. Belong to it. We live our lives in the shelter of each other. You all are my people!
