| Staff News: Farewell to Stephanie Swanberg
| |
This month we wish a reluctant and fond farewell to Stephanie Swanberg, Associate Professor and Information Literacy and eLearning Librarian, who is leaving at the end of January to take a position at the Michigan School of Psychology Moustakas Johnson Library. Stephanie is one of the founding faculty members at OUWB, starting on June 15, 2011, just one month before we welcomed our inaugural class. She was instrumental in establishing the Medical Library – its spaces, collections, services, and teaching program. She served as liaison to many courses and clerkships, participated in the personal librarian program, taught in the curriculum, provided reference services to the OUWB community, mentored Embark students, established the community outreach partnership with the Auburn Hills Public Library, organized and ran the annual Organ and Bone Marrow Donor Drive, edited the Medical Library Newsletter, and much, much more. She received numerous awards and recognitions including the OUWB Faculty Recognition Award for Excellence in Service and the President’s Award from the Medical Library Association. But beyond all this wonderful work, she will be missed for her sunny nature, ready smile, and collaborative nature. We wish her only the best in her new position!

Last year's event was cancelled due to the pandemic, but this year the library will be going ahead with the event in virtual form.

| PubMed Clinical Queries Update
| |
The PubMed Clinical Queries search page has been updated to align with the new PubMed design and now includes a new category for COVID-19 searches.
The Clinical Study Categories option remains, with the ability to specify therapy, diagnosis, etiology, or prognosis studies along with broad or narrow retrieval. However, the Systematic Review and Medical Genetics options have been removed.
| |
To quickly locate systematic reviews, search for your topic in PubMed and then select the Systematic Review filter from the default list of Article Type filters on the search results page. Medical Genetics searches are now available using the filter name and field tag [filter]. For example: sickle cell anemia AND genetic counseling [filter]. See the PubMed User Guide for a complete list of filters or contact the Medical Library at medref@oakland.edu for assistance.
