Hanging Rock Christian camp

From the Camp Director,

As this newsletter is going out, we are having our Labor Day Family Camp. I just love the atmosphere that we have at Family Camp. One of the highlights of this ministry is just the fellowship of so many churches. It's great when you can gather with many churches to Worship our One True God. We will be posting all of the pictures from Family Camp on facebook this week.
Augsut has been a little challenging for Hanging Rock. We learned of Tom Lloyd resigning from the Maintenance Director position. We are all very sad to see him go with his talents and abilities, he has helped the camp accomplish so much over his twleve years of service. Tom and his family will be living here until they find a place off campus. Tom has agreed to help with the Waste Treatment Plant & help us close the pool after Family Camp. I would encourage you to send a note of encouragement to Tom and just thank him for his twelve years of service. You can send it to the camp and we will make sure he gets it.
We have started the process of trying to find a new Maintenance Director and ask that you be in prayer for us as we seek who the Lord has planned for the position. We do have the job description and application on our website if anyone is interested. We have received some applications and have given tours to several people who are interested. We are hoping to have someone hired no later than November 1st.
We have a lot going on with all of the retreats scheduled for this fall that we are either are hosting or have programmed. We are going to need more volunteers with the abscence of a Maintenance Director. If you like mowing, doing light maintance and want to volunteer we would love to have the help. Just click on the tab below to fill out a volunteer form and we will be in contact with you.
I was asked the other day, if it made me nervous not having a Maintenance Director, as of right now, no I am not. Tom is still living on property and if the camp needs something I know he would be willing to help. But, I'm also not nervous becuase we rely on a Heavenly Father that is in charge of Hanging Rock and everything is HIS! Psalm 24:1  Of David. A psalm. The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; I think God has got this. I fully tust in HIS leadership.
Keep us in your prayers and if you can help let us know.
Serving Him,
Gary Baker, Executive Director

A Letter from Tom Lloyd:

On behalf of my family and myself, we would like to thank all of those who have supported and encouraged us over the past 12 years at Hanging Rock.   We have enjoyed getting to know many of you on a more personal level.  To all the summer staff that have served beside me, I hope I left a good impression on you while trying to pass on a little of what I have learned over the years.  Please be in prayer for us as we go where God is leading.  Also, be in prayer for Hanging Rock and whoever takes my place.
Thank you for the memories.

Fish Fry Fundraiser:

September 7, 2019
We are excited to start the fundraising process for the bathrooms. We will be raising money to remodel the boys dorm, the girls dorm, and the Hanging Rock Hilton. We plan to start in the boys dorm and make our way around the camp. We would love for you to join us at this year's fish fry. We will be serving all you can eat fish provided by Dan's Fish Fry.
This will be donation only. Please invite your friends and neighbors to join us. If you cannot join us you can still donate to the bathroom remodeling project.

Bathroom Project Update

On April 3, 2019 we put a poll out on facebook, you can see the rsults on the left. We really do value your input on what we do here at Hanging Rock. We wanted to give you a choice of what project we should complete next. As you can see, an overwhelming amount of people voted that we remodel our bathrooms all around the camp. So at the May Board meeting the results of the poll were shared and they voted that we start raising money for the bathrooms. We have had a few contractors look at the bathrooms and we are still gathering estimates for the total cost of the project. But we estimate it will cost between $13,000 - $16,000 for each bathroom in the dorms and that the Hilton will cost $45,000 but that will also include new flooring in all of the rooms and hallway.
We are asking those that want to see the bathrooms remodeled find a way to help us raise the money. You can help by joining our fundraisers, donating and also by asking others to donate. Our plan is to raise enough by December to do the Boys Dorm. When we say that, the girls get upset, we can do both the girls and the boys if we get enough donations. All it takes is MONEY!
Next year we will be doing more fundraisers to raise enough for the girls dorm and the Hilton. Please be supportive of this project and our fundraisers.
To make this happen we will have a few fundraisers but with that we will need individuals willing to step up and help as well. If 200 people would committ to $75.00 a month for September-December that would get us to $60,000. Let us have enough cash on hand to be able to remodel the Boy's dorm. Please be in prayer. We also believe that if we had churches willintg to take on a single bathroom and help with demo and remodeling it would save the camp a lot of money.

Leadership Summit

JESUS made the summit – Can we? This question and many more will be answered November 7-8-9 at HRCA when we gather together for THE ROCK – Leadership Summit 2019.  Our three day event, sponsored by e2:Effective Elders, the WCEA and HRCA will be a fantastic journey led by renowned Elder/Leader Trainer Dr. Gary Johnson, former Lead Servant at The CREEK and current e2: Effective Elders Speaker/Author.  We began 2019 with a desire to do some BOLD things in our part of the state for the Kingdom…and the boldest thing we could think to do in this first year was put together a powerful leadership summit that would help all of the churches that support Hanging Rock.

The program starts Thursday at 6pm for church staff teams – overnight into Friday afternoon…and then our elders/deacons/lay leaders will join in at 6pm on Friday night into Saturday morning.   The cost of the event is $50 per person, which covers the cost of meals, Leadership Summit materials and expenses.  You can register online at hangingrock.org under THE ROCK Leadership Summit!  Hope to see your church leadership team at the SUMMIT!  You do not want to miss this!

Jeff Keller, 2019 WCEA President
