Financial Coaching Foundations
Financial Coaching is a unique approach for increasing individuals’ financial capability, distinct from counseling, advising, or teaching. Are you a social worker, case manager, or other professional who provides direct services to individuals? Would you like to help your clients build skills for lasting change? Are you curious about financial coaching? Financial Coaching Foundations is the course for you!
Financial Coaching Foundations will be held via Zoom on Tuesdays, January 9 – February 6 from 10 am-12:30 pm. Participants who complete all five sessions will be eligible to receive 1.4 CEUs through the University of Wisconsin.

Cloverbud Pumpkin Contest
The annual 4-H Cloverbud Pumpkin Contest was held on Saturday, October 21, at UWO Fond du Lac Campus. Cloverbud members, 4-H youth grades K-2nd, were able to enter a pumpkin in the contest. The morning of Teen Leaders and a few volunteers helped weigh, measure, and judge the pumpkins.

Fresh Cow Concerns: Milk Fever
Even though hypocalcemia, commonly known as milk fever, has been a fresh cow problem for years, it has been addressed through nutritional management during the dry period and early lactation to decrease clinical cases to less than 1%. However, 73% of 3rd and greater lactation animals have had subclinical hypocalcemia.

Fond du Lac County Selected to Present “Shark Tank” Idea to Address Hunger, Nutrition, and Health
Nearly a year ago, the White House hosted the first conference on hunger, nutrition, and health in 50 years. As a result, they came up with a big goal - to end hunger and increase healthy eating and physical activity by 2030, so that fewer Americans experience diet-related chronic diseases like diabetes, obesity, and hypertension. This is known as the “White House Challenge to End Hunger and Build Healthy Communities.”

2023 Wisconsin Waterhemp Herbicide Resistance Screening Project
Waterhemp continues to be one of the most concerning weed species in corn/soybean rotations in Wisconsin, and herbicide resistant waterhemp is top of mind for many growers. If you have waterhemp that appears resistant to common herbicides like Callisto, dicamba, Liberty or Enlist One, we invite Wisconsin farmers, agronomists, and industry representatives to collect waterhemp seeds this fall from Wisconsin corn and soybean production fields where Callisto, dicamba, and/or Enlist One didn’t provide satisfactory post-emergence waterhemp control and submit them to the UW-Madison’s Wisconsin Cropping Systems Weed Science lab for herbicide resistance screenings. At business coaching events, volunteers support the talented, ambitious Entrepreneurs in Training (EITs) who are progressing through Defy Ventures’s CEO of Your New Life program, developing employment readiness skills and taking the first steps in their entrepreneurial journeys. Volunteers provide one-on-one coaching on EITs’ resumes and personal statements and serve as early sounding boards for the business concepts that EITs are beginning to develop. In addition to career coaching and business planning activities, these events also include fun icebreakers and powerful empathy-building activities, which encourage conversations and connections that enhance EITs' self-esteem, ambition, and sense of hope that is critical to their transformational journey.
