Walsh University Bids Farewell to Father Guy Albert Trudel, O.P., Welcomes New Chapter |

|
Walsh University announces the upcoming departure of current University Chaplain Father Guy Albert Trudel, O.P., a Catholic priest and Dominican Friar of the Province of St. Joseph. Father Trudel has been reassigned by his Order and will be departing the university at the end of the academic year. Father Trudel was appointed in June 2023 following the reassignment of Dominican Father Louis Bertrand Lemoine, O.P., to the Carthusian monastery, the Charterhouse of the Transfiguration, in Vermont.

Walsh University Expands Global Partnership with Catholic University of Erbil and Mar Qardakh International School |
President Tim Collins recently visited Erbil, Iraq, with Archbishop Bashar Matti Warda, CCsR of Erbil as part of an expansion of its existing partnership to foster mutually beneficial collaboration for students, faculty, and staff of the Catholic University of Erbil (CUE), the Mar Qardakh International School (MQIS), and Walsh University. In addition to Walsh University hosting MQIS graduates for their undergraduate studies, CUE will offer us Faculty Fellowships and employment opportunities for recent graduates starting in Fall 2025.

President Tim and Drenda Collins Visit Walsh Students in Austria for Study Beyond Experience |

President Tim and Drenda Collins recently visited with the Walsh University students participating in a semester-long Study Beyond experience on the Franciscan University of Steubenville (FUS) campus in Gaming, Austria. The Collins’ also participated in classroom discussions, Holy Mass in the ancient Carthusian Monastery, a Festival of Praise, and joined FUS President Fr Dave Pivonka in Vienna, Austria, as part of the Parents Program for all students on the Gaming campus. This is the fourth year of the Walsh University partnership with FUS in Austria.

Join us today, Wednesday, April 2, for the Rugby 101 Clinic from 4:30 to 6 p.m., starting in Olivieri Theatre with an introduction to the sport’s culture, rules, and strategies. Then, head to the rugby field behind Larry Staudt Field for live demonstrations and hands-on practice. In case of inclement weather, the event will move to Alumni Arena. Take a break, grab some food, and recharge at Late Night Breakfast! This Walsh tradition is the perfect way to unwind, enjoy great food, and have fun with friends before finals week kicks into high gear. Join the Office of Student Activities on Tuesday, April 29, from 9 to 10:30 p.m. in Schervish Dining Hall for a free late-night feast, fun conversations, and the chance to win prizes in the “WU Has It, WU Wants It” game. Faculty and staff will be serving up breakfast favorites, bringing energy, and making sure it’s a night to remember. Come hungry and ready for a great time!

Service Saturday: Earth Day |
Make a difference this Earth Day by volunteering at the North Canton Library Recycle Fair on Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Join fellow Walsh University students in giving back to the community while earning service hours. Volunteers will help direct traffic and unload recycling donations, making it easier for the community to participate in this eco-friendly event. Education for Life: Neurotheology |
The Education for Life Colloquium Series presents Neurotheology on Monday, April 7, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Barrette Business and Community Center. Religion is often viewed in opposition to science, yet both are deeply connected through the inner workings of the human brain. Join pioneering neuroscientist Dr. Andrew Newberg, Director of Research at the Marcus Institute of Integrative Health at Thomas Jefferson University, as he explores how cognitive neuroscience can provide insights into religious and spiritual experiences. We are thrilled to announce that the Br. Edmond Drouin Library at Walsh University will be transitioning to a new Library Services Platform in June 2025. This upgrade is part of a broader initiative involving 86 OhioLINK institutions, with our migration wave's go-live date for essential functions set for late June. The Walsh University DPT program was awarded APTA Core Value Superlatives at the 2025 Ohio Physical Therapy (OPTA) annual meeting this past weekend (March 28-29) in Columbus, Ohio. The OPTA selected Walsh DPT to be recognized for their core values of Compassion & Caring and Integrity.

The 54th Business Club Luncheon was a tremendous success, bringing together students and professionals for an inspiring keynote address by Bill Fagan, President of Business Operations for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Rock Entertainment Group. Eleanor Mondok, a senior Visual and Performing Arts major will present her Senior Piano and World Music Recital on Sunday, April 6, at 3 p.m. at Christ Presbyterian Church in downtown Canton as part of her capstone project. The performance is free and open to the public, and we encourage the entire Walsh University community to attend and celebrate Eleanor’s hard work and musical achievement. Dr. Britt Cooper’s Metropolitan Chorus of the Summit Choral Society performed a concert with the Akron Symphony Orchestra and Chorus on the stage of E. J. Thomas Hall. The combined ensembles performed the Symphony No. 2 (Resurrection) of Gustav Mahler and was conducted by the Director of the Akron Symphony Orchestra, Christopher Wilkins.
A heartfelt thank you to BAM! Healthy Cuisine at Washington Square for their continued support of the Walsh University Cavalier Soirée, an event that raises vital funds for student scholarships. We are grateful for their commitment to our students. We also want to mention their expanded hours—BAM! is now open for breakfast from 7 to 11 a.m., providing even more opportunities for the campus community to enjoy their delicious, healthy offerings.
