We hope your spring break was filled with sunshine, rest, and just the right amount of adventure. As we leap into this next stretch of the school year, the flowers are blooming, the bees are buzzing… and yes, the pollen is definitely doing its thing.
To kick things off with a laugh, here’s a little ode to the yellow dust we love to hate:
"Ode to Pollen"
You're in the air, you're on my car,
You're coating snacks inside a jar.
You sneak in doors, you cling to shoes,
You even turned my dog chartreuse.
Oh pollen, you're a dusty sprite—
A sneezy, breezy, springtime blight.
We may complain, but deep inside,
We know you help the flowers thrive. 🌼

I often think about the airport scenes at the beginning and end of the movie Love Actually. I’ve experienced all sorts of emotions, coming and going from various airports around the world. Australians travel as a right of passage, being an island far down in the South Pacific, so we have a curiosity about the greater world, while still holding on to a fierce pride of our "Australianism."
So, it was certainly tough leaving Melbourne again last Sunday night. I had a fantastic two weeks with my family. Lots of laughs and reunions. I am grateful that my travel and various international residences gave Mum and Dad an opportunity to see much of the world that they would not have perhaps done otherwise.
For the first time on this trip overseas, I flew into Houston to clear customs and immigration. With my U.S. passport in hand I swept through the line and actually beat the bags to the carousel. (Anytime I can avoid LAX, I will). Read more >>>

Spring has sprung here at Friends School of Wilmington, and with it comes the return of our most cherished annual tradition—GrandFriends Day! We warmly invite you to join us on Thursday, April 17th, from 8:00AM to 12:00PM for a morning filled with community, connection, and celebration.
New this year: We’re adding rotating family activities under the tent on Francisco Field to give families time to experience the FSW mission through hands-on learning together. For the first time, sibling families will be able to spend part of the day together as one unit—a special addition we’re thrilled to offer! Because of this exciting new component, all GrandFriends will receive an email with a personalized schedule for their family’s day prior to the event.
Please visit our special GrandFriends Day website to RSVP, view the day's itinerary, take a virtual campus tour, and preview some of the amazing lessons happening across grade levels. We can't wait to see you soon!

Plant a Pollinator Garden!
|
Spring is the perfect time to get your hands dirty for a good cause! This week, we’re encouraging families to plant a native pollinator garden. Even a small patch with plants like milkweed, bee balm, or black-eyed susans can help support local bees, butterflies, and other vital pollinators.
Why native plants? They’re adapted to our local climate, require less water, and provide essential food and habitat for wildlife.
Want to get started? Check out this great article by the North Carolina Arboretum or swing by a local nursery. Let’s grow something good together! 🌱🐝
