'Tis the season... for year-end top 10 lists, PERE/CSII friends!
Without a doubt, 2014 was a pivotal year for environmental justice, regional (and national!) equity, immigrant integration, and social movements.
As December winds down, we pause to reflect and celebrate wins, to re-strategize around setbacks, and to recharge for the year ahead.
With gratitude to allies like you, PERE/CSII presents this list of the 10 most popular eNews features and highlights from 2014!

IMPACTING
IMMIGRANT INTEGRATION

With a national spotlight on immigration policy, it was a big year for research partnerships at CSII. Our citizenship data played a role in the new Cities for Citizenship initiative led by the Mayors of NY, LA, and Chicago. We also continued to work nationally, across the state, and locally to advance immigrant integration.

MOVEMENTS AND METRICS

PERE and the National Domestic Workers Alliance came together to expand on the ideas in our 2011 report and examine the role of transformative metrics for movement building. Check out our new report on NDWA's SOL Initiative and  a feature article via NCRP.

SOCIAL MEDIA STRIDES

Two of our Twitter accounts hit major milestones with nearly 1200 followers each (and still growing!). Our newest account by @Prof_MPastor, captures some particularly priceless moments. Prof. Pastor has honed the skill of the digital art form known as the “selfie”. (View a sampling with staff, a personal hero, and hard hats!)

EMPOWERING EQUITY ADVOCATES

In partnership with PolicyLink, we unveiled the National Equity Atlas. The Atlas offers interactive data tools that community leaders and policymakers all over the country can use to advance racial equity and inclusive growth.

ONLINE OVERHAUL

CSII's website moved to a new URL, and had a bit of a makeover in the process! The website now highlights more of CSII's research and networks, as well as sporting new interactive features and social media upgrades.

ENGAGING EVENTS

CSII proudly hosted and co-hosted many events this year, including: Dreaming Sin Fronteras, which used music and multimedia to tell the stories of young immigrants, our immigrant integration book series, and the recent National Immigrant Integration Conference in L.A.

ELEVATING ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE

Earlier this year, PERE and our partners' Environmental Justice Screening Method helped inform the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment's CalEnviroScreen 2.0, a new tool mandated by the CalEPA to help allocate 25% of California's cap-and-trade revenue to disadvantaged communities.

MEDIA MENTIONS

2014 brought unparalleled media coverage of PERE/CSII (including stories in the New York Times, the LA Times, the National Journal, the Washington Post, and the Huffington Post,) as well as local and national TV and radio, and Spanish-language outlets.
