Join us THIS SUNDAY at Gypsy Cafe in Stillwater 
OF+MO is proud to sponsor the 13th annual Gypsy Cafe in Stillwater, Okla., on May 5. Set across five stages in multiple venues throughout the city, this festival celebrates Oklahoma's rich tapestry of songwriting talent showcasing over 70 homegrown artists throughout the day, including Monica Taylor & Friends, Red Dirt Rangers, Jared Tyler, Chuck Dunlap, Brad James, and Gene Williams among others. OF+MO will host an artist lounge that will bring professionals in from various sectors such as marketing, financial and legal. Festival artists will have the opportunity to sign up for informational time slots to learn more about each area and how they apply to music entrepreneurship. OF+MO will also have an event table to engage with artists and provide further resources on how to promote themselves and their overall industry across the state. 

Join Us on the Kickstart 66 Tour
Presented by The Oklahoma Arts Council, Oklahoma Route 66 Centennial Commission and Oklahoma Main Street Center, OF+MO is proud to participate in the Kickstart 66 Tour, which continues this month with a stop at The Social in Clinton, Okla, on May 9 from 1-4 p.m. Highlighting our programs and community initiatives for film and music, OF+MO will join a variety of organizations using the tour to introduce resources that communities can use for local planning and continued economic development in celebration of Route 66 and its upcoming centennial celebration in 2026. Many of the tour stops will begin with welcoming remarks by Oklahoma Lieutenant Governor Matt Pinnell. All tour stops are open to the public and future dates include Sapulpa on September 12 and Arcadia on October 3.

Roxy Theater to Host Oklahoma Movie Hall of Fame Induction
Located in Muskogee’s historic Roxy Theater, the Oklahoma Movie Hall of Fame will induct its seventh class of Oklahomans who have dedicated their career to the motion picture industry. This year’s eclectic bunch includes Matthew Mungle, Academy Award winning special effects make-up artist, Milena Govich, actress and producer, Kat Vecchio, New York movie producer, and more. The Induction installation will take place Saturday, June 8, at 7 p.m at the Roxy Theater following a welcome reception for the inductees, their guests and event sponsors at 5:30 p.m.

Francis Tuttle Offers Basics of Audio Engineering

Want to get a beginner's understanding of audio engineering? Enroll today for Basics of Audio Engineering at Francis Tuttle, which will teach the basics of recording, including room treatment, gain settings, types of microphones, audio interfaces and their functionalities. Led by local music professional Stephen Salewon, there will be live demonstrations with multiple scenarios of mic setups. Students will also explore composition with a Digital Audio Workstation, specifically Ableton. This class will take place at Francis Tuttle’s Danforth Campus on Thursday, May 23, 5-7 p.m.
Meridian Tech Offers Getting to Work Course in May
Meridian Technology Center’s First Capital Film Crew is offering Getting to Work: Creating Employment Profiles for the Film Industry at the South Campus in Guthrie on May 28 and 30. This course will be led by Adam Ropp, a local film professional who has worked on “Black Bags,” “Secrets Beneath the Floorboard,” “For the Love of Money” and more. This hands-on learning experience will teach students how to create profiles, where to list profiles, tips for building a personal brand and other helpful skills for gaining formal work experience in film.

Apply Now for Grant to Attend AMERICANAFEST
Americana Music Festival and Conference (AMERICANAFEST) brings together artists, music artists, fans and industry professionals for multiple days of music and education in Nashville, Tenn., which gives people the opportunity to benefit from the insightful panels, seminars, discussions and exclusive performances. The Americana Music Foundation is offering grants this year for interested attendees. Administered by Salt Lick Incubator, each grant (valued at $1,750) covers up to $1,000 in travel expenses and includes a Silver Pass and a ticket to the Americana Honors & Awards ceremony. Applications close on May 15.

Cherokee Film, Tulsa FMAC Among Nominees for 2024 Global Production Awards
Screen International unveiled its nominee shortlist for the 2024 Global Production Awards that includes the Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts & Culture (Tulsa FMAC) and Cherokee Film. Tulsa FMAC was nominated for the City of Film Award and the only U.S. city nominated among its international categorical competitors. Cherokee Film received three outstanding nominations: Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Award, the Film Commission Award and the Community Impact Award. Winners will be announced at a special May 20 ceremony in France, amid the Cannes Film Festival. Congratulations to both Tulsa FMAC and Cherokee Film on their nominations--we appreciate all you do for Oklahoma’s film, TV and music industries!

deadCenter aims to promote, encourage and celebrate the independent film arts throughout its year-round programs and initiatives, including their annual film festival and statewide educational tour among others. deadCenter has expanded their media efforts to include a recently launched podcast. Hosted by Nick Hodge and deadCenter's programmers, listeners can tune in twice a month to hear the latest about filmmaking in Oklahoma and around the world, the latest in deadCenter news and exciting interviews with filmmakers in the industry. WATCH: "City Hall Sessions" Hosted by OKC Mayor David Holt
Now in its fourth year, Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt hosts “City Hall Sessions," music concerts in his office highlighting the musical talent across Oklahoma City. Featuring a myriad of different music artists and genres, Holt’s latest session features Kennedy Fine, a pop/indie artist and songwriter from Oklahoma City who performs statewide.
