Get Fall Festive with Us!
October is a magical time in the garden: the weather is beautiful, autumn foliage is ablaze, and Encore® Azaleas are putting on one last spectacle for the year. With varieties blooming from early through late fall, there is no shortage of color for your autumn décor. Growing azaleas in containers makes it easy to create festive seasonal displays by our front door. For Halloween, we like to pair the purple blooms of Autumn Amethyst® with white pumpkins and yellow mums. For an autumn harvest aesthetic, the orange-red blooms of Autumn Embers™ are perfect for styling porches and patios.
If you do plant in containers, you may need to bring your azaleas indoors over winter to protect the roots from freezing temperatures. As a rule of thumb, the growing environment of a container is considered to be two hardiness zones colder than your local climate. Encore Azaleas are generally hardy to zone 6. As such, gardeners in regions colder than zone 8 should bring azalea containers indoors when temperatures drop. Here are some tips on how to keep Encore® Azaleas healthy indoors.
