| Five Startups Selected for Robotics Factory Accelerate Program’s 2025 Cohort
The Robotics Factory, a program of Innovation Works dedicated to creating, accelerating, and scaling robotics companies in the Pittsburgh region, has accepted five companies to its Accelerate program.
The program’s third cohort includes Carnegie Mellon startups Beyond Reach Labs, founded by Mitchell Fogelson, PhD and OctaPulse, co-founded by CEO Paul Grech, as well as roboLoop, Silly Surfacing, and Space Precision Systems.

The Swartz Center's CONNECTS Series Returns for the Fall
The CONNECTS/START SMART LEGAl seminar series will return starting Tuesday, September 9, 2025. The seminars aim to enhance the experiential education of any individual interested in innovation and entrepreneurship. Tailored mainly for students to help take their ideas from conception to commercialization, the seminars run throughout the fall semester. Teams looking for talent and talent looking for teams can CONNECT at these events.
All CONNECTS events will be hosted in person at the CMU Swartz Center on the 3rd floor of the Tepper Quad, or virtually via zoom.

CMU's ScottyLabs Introduces New Student-Led Startup Accelerator!
Foundry, the new student-led startup accelerator from CMU's ScottyLabs organization, is optimized for success of serious founders at CMU. Foundry is a semester-long program where at most seven teams will explore their drive to build with support from peers, founders who have been in their shoes before and VCs such as Pear, Bessemer, Radical and more to steer long term success.

CMU First-year Graduate Students!
Apply for the 2025-27 Swartz Fellows Cohort by October 5
Are you a CMU first-year graduate student interested in entrepreneurship, exploring a startup or working on your own while joining a network of startup-minded students? Applications for the 2025-27 cohort of James R. Swartz Entrepreneurial Fellows will open on Sunday, August 17 at 11:59 PM ET. The Swartz Fellows program is a two-year program that fast-tracks the careers of CMU's graduate students who are passionate about entrepreneurship.
This highly selective program develops each Fellow's entrepreneurial potential and leadership skills through hands-on experiences, networking, mentoring and courses in entrepreneurship. At the program's core is a mentored summer internship with a top-tier VC-backed startup within the high-tech, high-growth environment of California's Silicon Valley and San Francisco (Bay area encouraged but not required) or another area of preference.
