This Week's Mission Moment
The past few years have been financially challenging for many families. We have seen so many more families in need of help and support in securing affordable care for their children while they work. With the support of our South Shore YMCA Annual campaign, donations made by staff, donors, Y members, and participants have been able to be provided the support needed to help more families afford care in our Early Learning Centers and Afterschool Programs.
I process the Financial Aid applications for all our Early Learning and Afterschool Programs, which allows me to see first-hand just how much we help and assist not only participant families, but also staff families alike.
Rebecca is a new mom of three, with twin infants and a preschool student enrolled in our Early Learning Center. She reached out after her family struggled to afford care as she transitioned back to work. The cost of childcare is costly enough, and you can imagine the need to send three children all at once. It’s a huge adjustment for any family. With new personal and financial demands for this growing family, they were asking for support at this most crucial time of need, to ensure they were able to continue to work. Due to their current circumstances, we were happy to provide a level of support, so all three children have safe, reliable care.
“Being provided this Financial Assistance means a lot to us, at this crucial time of need, said Rebecca. “Thank you so much for processing the application and bringing this good news to our family. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”
This is just one example of how much the South Shore YMCA Annual Campaign makes a difference in our community. We are fortunate to have this support available to assist our Y families during their time of need.
