Flocking... Or Nesting?
It's no surprise that "RVer" and "snowbird" are closely related terms — for some, they're interchangeable.  If you're not one who can pull up stakes and leave your frosty home behind in the winter, do you still imagine what it's like to enjoy several sun-kissed months farther south?
It's been said for months that 2020 is not a typical year.  No surprise there!  RVers know so firsthand.  Canadians have had to cancel their annual U.S. migrations, thwarted by border closures.  Folks who normally spend short-sleeve time with friends at resorts and rallies in the South or Southwest may have had to reschedule thanks to cancellations and other safety measures.
But despite 2020's impact on traveling, socializing, dining, and more, we still can make the best of the situation.  Folks whose RVs are nestled all snug in their, er, storage areas can embrace the world outside their door... view a pristine snowfall or a dramatic sky at dusk.  Inside our RVs or stationary homes, we can start a new hobby, maybe binge-watch a favorite show, catch up on our reading, or reconnect with other household members.  And plan a future road trip!
Whatever seasonal celebrations you take part in this month — and for the unexpected downtime you may have — we wish you joy and happiness.  We'll be right alongside you in January as we usher in a brand-new year!

Winter Downtime?  Here's a Thought...
"I called Vernon at Newcoast in February when I totaled my coach.  The process was so easy, they were simple to work with, and I got a great price.  On the warranty alone, which covers tires, towing, and more, Newcoast saved me almost $4500!"

How Do I?
How Do I Prep My RV For Winter Travel?
One stereotype suggests that all RVers flock south for the winter to escape the cold weather, but there is actually a large group that prefers winter camping.  With a little preparation, you can unlock a world of new experiences by camping in the cold.  For starters, during the winter months, you likely won't have to worry about getting a reservation at that popular campground everybody visits.  Waking up in a less-than-full campground or RV park can be a calm and peaceful way to start your morning.

If you've never camped in the winter, there are lots of tips and tricks to help you stay warm and keep your RV protected from the elements.  Some are as simple as parking in as much direct sunlight as possible, while others require you to purchase equipment for your RV.  Check out this comprehensive list from KOA for everything you'll need to know before you hit the snowy roads in your RV.

Full-time RVers Marc and Tricia (aka "Keep Your Daydream") share their top 10 tips for winter camping in this video, as well as some must-have items to help you survive the cold weather.  Once you feel confident enough to take the RV out for your first winter adventure, make sure to tag @fmcarvclub in your Instagram and Facebook pictures, and you could wind up on our social media pages!
Light Up The Night
If you're like us, one of your favorite holiday traditions is hanging up Christmas lights.  Quickly followed by a drive through the neighborhood to see what creative displays your neighbors have created (and hoping yours is still better).  But whether you go all out or just keep it practical, the holiday season would simply not be the same without these colorful displays lighting up December.

Despite the many challenges 2020 has given us, one thing's for certain: we can still get excited for light displays — socially distanced, of course!  Here are some of the best light displays to keep you both safe and feeling like a kid again.

For members staying at the FMCA Campground, make the short drive to Coney Island to drive through their Christmas Nights of Lights, which features over 1 million lights synched to music.

And if Oprah recommends it, you know it's legit.  Check out the 29 Best Places to See Light Displays Near You, many of which allow you to do a drive-thru viewing.

Never to be outdone, our neighbors to the North know how to hang some lights too.  Check out Canada's 10 Magical Drive-Thru Light Displays.
