Graduation Update
Dear Eighth Grade Families,
Eighth grade graduation is indeed one of St. Michael’s time-honored traditions that celebrates student achievements and cements the bonds that have grown and developed through time. Given the Governor’s recent guidance on graduation ceremonies, the administrative team is pleased to announce the following plans for our graduation ceremony. In charting the course, our two goals were to ensure that the eighth grade could come together as a unified class for the graduation ceremony, while also adhering to specific graduation space occupancy guidelines mandated by the Governor for COVID safety.
More details will also be shared within the coming weeks regarding a Baccalaureate service and other end-of-year celebrations for the Class of 2021.
Let’s Graduate!
- Ceremony: The graduation ceremony will be held as previously announced on Thursday, June 10, 9 a.m., in the Ellen Passmore Athletic Center (Singleton Campus gym). The ceremony will last approximately an hour.
- Guests: Given mandated occupancy requirements, each graduate may bring two guests. (For example, two parents OR one parent and a guest OR one parent and a sibling, etc.)
- Dress Code: Jacket and tie, white dress or white pantsuit. Students will receive boutonnieres and flowers provided by the school.
- Masks are required for all graduates and attendees.
- We are exploring ways to livestream the ceremony to share with extended family members.
- Due to COVID and the Governor’s social gatherings mandate, it is not possible to host a reception following the graduation ceremony or a pre-graduation dinner. We remain hopeful that the Governor may loosen restrictions pending a continued downward trend with COVID numbers.
We look forward to sharing more information with you shortly as we celebrate the incredible Class of 2021!
Sincerely,
Bob Gregg
