December 2, 2022
Hello, friends:
In this period of gratitude and reflection (which often corresponds to the busiest and most hectic season for many in our community) I hope that we can all have some time to reflect quietly on the gift we share here in the DFPA. Here, in our artistic community that includes students, faculty, staff and audiences, we have the opportunity to share and collaborate on work that we find meaningful. We share our knowledge, skill, insight and commitment towards the believe that the Fine and Performing Arts are essential and precious elements that must be responsibly cultivated, nurtured and sustained. We are both an academy to teach and show skills through performance and exhibition as well as a place to examine, study and analyze that art to ensure it continues to fulfill the objectives we set, and that are set by our belief in Loyola’s mission.
I am continually gratified by the chance to work in this community, and thank you all for your role in crafting this great gift we share—an academic department where we share the common goal of reaching out—of putting ourselves into the community of dancers, actors, designers of all stripes, writers, musicians and scholars—presenting our artwork and knowledge as positive energy in our world that needs it so much. The gift that keeps on giving?
I wish you all a season filled with what Shakespearean First Folio technique considers “antithesis”—one that’s celebratory and reflective at the same time. All my best wishes to you and yours.

Faculty Profile Updates
If you do not currently have a faculty profile on the DFPA website or would like to update your profile, please complete and submit the Biography and Headshot Form . Faculty pages are among the most frequently visited pages on our website. Students often look up faculty when they’re shopping for classes so it is important to keep your profile current.

Enterprise Learning Hub
We'd like to encourage all Faculty and Staff, as part of your pre-semester preparation, to check in at the Enterprise Learning Hub, where lives access to any of the required online training sessions about which we often receive reminders or announcements. We ask you to keep up with those required sessions, and complete them in timely fashion so we don’t have to track you down (knowing that the ultimate penalty for non-compliance is removal from email and university systems). I hope we will be able to continue to benefit from the information we get from these relatively painless obligations.
