| | Summer Sweetness PJ Library of Greater Washington
Federation and PJ Library are partnering with local organizations to bring families together for stories and hands-on activities around Jewish values. For each event, a “guest reader” will read a PJ book with the night’s theme, and your family can create and learn something to put those values into action. Join us to spread more kindness, gratitude, and friendship in the world.

| | Coming Soon: Wisdom & Reflections for a Very Different New Year
On Friday, August 21, the Jewish community will mark the start of the Hebrew month of Elul—and the beginning of a very unusual High Holiday season. While we may not be gathering in person to sound the Shofar (ram’s horn) each day, we can still celebrate this meaningful transition to a New Year through a process of spiritual introspection and personal growth, and by deepening our connections with one another. Join Federation and the Washington Board of Rabbis for 29 days of learning guided by the diversity, warmth, and wisdom of our local rabbinic community. As we journey towards Rosh Hashanah, we invite you to find inspiration in a new topic each day. Be sure to follow Federation on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for the latest reflections from our very special teachers.

| The Healing Power of Marking Time During COVID-19
Edlavitch DCJCC
During this unprecedented time, when our regular schedules and ways of marking time have been disrupted, it is more important than ever to be in touch with the Jewish calendar and it’s wisdom. Dive into the themes of each lunar month on Rosh Chodesh (the holiday marking the start of the new month) and learn how they helped our ancestors track time agriculturally and keep hold of important events in the Jewish people’s history. We will take time to relate the month’s themes to our own lives in small groups, focusing on individual wellness during this stressful time. Participants will leave with tools to tackle the month ahead with purpose and the ability to plan for what’s to come.
