Applications for the 2025-2026 cycle of The Coelho Law Fellowship are now open! The deadline to apply is April 30th. Students with disabilities from community colleges, colleges, or universities (or recent graduates) with an interest in pursuing legal education are encouraged to apply. International students with disabilities interested in comparative U.S. law with an emphasis on disability rights law are welcome to apply.
Central to the mission of The Coelho Center for Disability Law, Policy, and Innovation is bringing together and fostering the development of leaders from our disability community. In particular, we believe in creating a strong pipeline of law students with disabilities who will go on to serve as attorneys, judges, public policy professionals, and public servants. Now in its sixth year, over 170 participants have received programming that has led to positive educational and professional outcomes and fostered a network of future leaders in the law.
This year we have expanded our program to include a summer option. We encourage applicants to apply to the program that best suits their interests and availability. The new Summer Law Fellowship includes participation in the summertime Disability Rights Law Course, summer conference, and alumni networking. Summer Law Fellows have access to supports, mentorship, and optional yearlong programming as their schedules permit. The traditional yearlong Law Fellowship experience continues beyond the summer program and includes a $1,000 stipend.
See table below for details on activities.

The Coelho Law Fellowship is made possible through the generosity of our donors. Your support makes it possible for us to provide our fellows with high-quality programming and to continue to expand our reach to positively affect the lives of people with disabilities in Los Angeles, across the country, and internationally.
A special thank you to the Thrasher Family for their most recent donation making the John Thrasher Scholarship possible.
Donations to our Center build on the legacy of the work of the Hon. Tony Coelho and the promise of the Americans with Disabilities Act to work toward “the elimination of discrimination against individuals with disabilities.” 42 U.S.C. 12101(b)(1).
