In 2023, over 600+organizations in 48 states and 11 countries banded together during Food Waste Prevention Week to amplify our commitment to sustainability and spotlight actions we all are taking to support reducing food waste. Food Waste Prevention Week 2024 (#FWPW24) offers your organization access to an easy plug-and-play Earth Month event focused on food conservation.

Save the Date, April 1-7, for social media challenges, in person and community volunteer events, K-12 student art contests, university engagement, presentations with special guests including celebrated local chefs and elected officials, and much more.

Food Hero Highlight

Metro Waste Services

Metro Waste Services has launched a new pilot program to help them better manage waste in Nashville. Through the Food Scraps Pickup Pilot, 750 households will be selected to help Metro Nashville learn how to keep food scraps out of the trash.

Reharvest Memphis

November 16, 2023

This unique, immersive event, hosted by Clean Memphis, will highlight the delicious connections between sustainability and food, with local chefs from PGF-certified restaurants preparing creative, surprising hors d’oeuvres using surplus ingredients gleaned from grocery stores.

Zero Food Waste Coalition: State Toolkit

This toolkit is a culmination of lessons learned from state leaders and local advocates who have led the charge in developing and implementing all the top food loss and waste policies. The toolkit highlights 15 different food waste policy opportunities and best practices that policymakers and advocates can draw upon to accelerate food waste policy in their own states. Each policy is accompanied by model legislation that could be adapted for each state’s unique context.

Metro Waste Services is looking for 750 households to help us learn how we can keep food scraps out of the trash. We need your help to collect them at the curb to turn them into compost for a one-year Food Scraps Pickup Pilot.
