From Stumptown to Treetown: Interpreting Portland's History through its Heritage Trees
Graduate student David-Paul B. Hedberg and Assistant Professor Catherine McNeur will use historic photographs, archival collections, and living trees to explore the stories of Portland’s past.

Student Spotlight
Alex Swiderski, a graduate student in Speech and Hearing Sciences, is one of 11 students nationwide to receive the Students Preparing for Academic-Research Careers Award from the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). He also received the "meritorious poster award" for his research poster. Now, Alex will be presenting at the upcoming ASHA conference in Denver. He is advised by Dr. Gerasimos Fergadiotis. 
Celebration of Life for Professor Emeritus Dr. Hugo du Coudray
Friends and family of long-time Professor Emeritus of Psychology Dr. Hugo du Coudray (Maynard), invite the PSU community to a celebration to honor his life on Saturday, November 7 at 1pm in Hoffmann Hall.

Charles Klein, Anthropology, received a three year NSF grant to conduct collaborative research on the "new middle class" in Brazil. Klein's research will focus on São Paulo.
Anna-Louise Reysenbach, Biology, discusses her research of organisms in extreme environments in the short film Extreme Oasis.
Ken Stedman, Biology, contributed to OMSI's exhibit Nanoland. 
Jennifer Ruth, English, named editor of the online AAUP Journal of Academic Freedom.
Michael McGregor, English, published a new book: Pure Act: The Uncommon Life of Robert Lax.
David Banis and Hunter Shobe, Geography, published a new book Portlandness: A Cultural Atlas. 
Ashley Streig, Geology, discussed earthquake preparedness on KGW. 
John Ott, History, published a new book Bishops, Authority, and Community in Northwestern Europe, c. 1050 – 1150.
Cornel Pewewardy, Indigenous Nations Studies, received the "Silver Anniversary Award" for 25 years of service to the National Association for Multicultural Education (NAME). He also presented as keynote speaker at their annual conference in September 2015.
Judy Bluehorse Skelton, Indigenous Nations Studies, will receive the "Sandy Diedrich Environmental Stewardship Award" at the City of Portland's 31st annual Spirit of Portland Award Ceremony on Tuesday, November 17.
