November already! As autumn creeps toward winter, daylight hours continue their disappearing act. Depending on where you are, it may be time to enjoy a campfire on a crisp night or bask in a warm locale. Of course, the month of November also contains special days to celebrate bravery and to be thankful.
In this issue, we spotlight November 11, designated as Veterans Day in the United States and Remembrance Day in Canada. We pay tribute to the men and women of the armed forces who have served their countries in times of conflict and peace. We recognize all for their patriotism, love of country, and sacrifices made for the common good.
Military.com provides a running compilation of Veterans Day parades and other happenings, plus deals and discounts for veterans. This year, especially, it's a good idea to check back often in case of cancellations or rescheduled events. And here are ways to commemorate the day in Canada.
To all veterans who read this: Thank you for your service!

"We have been members of FMCA for 9 years now and when I noticed an advertisement that FMCA was now partnering with TCS services to provide a prepaid diesel fuel discount card, I was very interested. We enrolled, and this last week we completed a 5000-mile round trip journey to Michigan and back to California. I was pleased with the ease of use of the TCS Fuel Card. We only had to fill up one time at a non TA Metro fuel stop. Average savings was $0.38 per gallon; $203 for the entire trip. Amazing! Thanks FMCA."

| Dedicated To The Armed Forces
| |
| As time marches on and history unfolds, many important military events from past decades may start to be forgotten. For anyone interested in learning as much as they can about the various branches of the armed forces, plenty of military museums across North America pay tribute to those who have served. Some may lie along your travel route.
Each branch of the U.S. military has a museum dedicated to its history and role in the country. You can find info on each of these museums here. Each one houses countless important artifacts, stories, and memorabilia that paint a historic and patriotic picture of America's past.
Canadians also can visit one of many museums to learn about their military's history, influence, and legacy over the past several centuries.
Another way that both Canada and the United States honor veterans is through memorials. There are numerous military memorials of all sizes, although here are some of the most noteworthy spots in the U.S. and Canada.

Smart Eating
Ahhh, yes! Thanksgiving is finally just around the corner.
You already may be picturing your plate filled with a huge slice of juicy turkey, heaping spoonfuls of marshmallow-covered sweet potato casserole, creamy green beans, and mashed potatoes smothered in gravy (if you weren't, you are now!). And perhaps a thick slice of pumpkin roll or pumpkin pie for dessert.
We aren't here to spike your blood sugar. Actually, if you'd like some healthful options during this time of joyous eating, one could be as simple as replacing your average marshmallow-topped sweet potato casserole with a pan of Roasted Sweet Potatoes With Honey and Cinnamon. This recipe can reduce your calorie, carbohydrate, and sugar intake when compared to the original. And, yes, it's just as tasty!
