Psalm 9:9-10
The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed,
a stronghold in times of trouble.
Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.

New International Version (NIV)
Have you ever dealt with doubt?  Jesus’ disciple Thomas was not alone.  My mom recorded favorite verses at the back of her Bible, to remember in difficult times.  She marked this one as a passage for assurance.
Our God is a refuge and a stronghold.  Luther’s words, “A Mighty Fortress,” come to mind.  Growing up in Germany I loved to visit the Castles at Heidelberg and Neuschwantstein.  These great fortresses seemed impregnable.  They were built to keep the inhabitants safe.  We are secure because God is our fortress, our refuge, our stronghold.
A brother in ministry sent me a song recently reminding me that God never forsakes the righteous.  Like our Lord, my friend’s encouragement was right on time.  The antidote for our doubt is trust.  Because we know God by name, we trust in him.  We are safe because God has a long track-record of safeguarding his people.  Our Lord has never forsaken those who seek him.  Do you know his name?  Do you seek him?  Rest in his promise today.  You will never be forsaken.  Trust and do not doubt.
Pray with me:
Father, how we thank you for our assurance in you today.  Thank you for your availability to us and your authority over everything in our lives.  Because we have come to know you, we trust you.  We seek you first today and trust you to provide all that we need.  Through Christ we pray.  Amen.
I want to invite you to join me in memorizing 52 passages this year from the 2017 set of Fighter Verses.  You can find the Fighter Verses App at the App Store on your phones or via this link  http://fighterverses.com/the-verses/fighter-verses/As we study the Bible this year, let's look at each text and learn what it says about God.
Joyfully,
