23/24 FAFSA Information

Students Can File Starting Oct 1st

Did you know you can file your 23/24 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) starting October 1st? Mark your calendar! The earlier you file, the more grants, scholarships and loans you could receive. (Please note that the 23/24 FAFSA is based off your 2021 tax info.) If you are interested in receiving a work-study award, be sure to check off the box on your form.
Dori Leadbetter of the Maine Educational Opportunity Center (MEOC) is here Thursday 10am-2pm ready to assist students with their FAFSA and other college-related questions. Call our office to  make an appointment with Dori; she can also  meet via Zoom during her office hours here or other times.

URock Rising Scholars

UMA Convocation is such a wonderful event where we kick off the University's scholarly theme with student, faculty and keynote speakers. This year our theme is Disability Visability. Thank you to our very own Al Blum for delivering the student speech. Well Done! As part of the Convocation we also recognize our Rising Scholars. Congratulations to our URock students Al Blum and Iain Kirkham for being named 2022 UMA Rising Scholars.
Next SA Meeting 9/23 4pm. All student welcome. Want to join via Zoom? Email kathryn.ebert@maine.edu for link.

'22 Grant Award Recipient

United Midcoast Charities

United Midcoast Charities (UMC) hosted their grant awardee celebration breakfast this past week and our Director, Chip Curry, was honored to represent URock as a 2022 grant award recipient. UMC has been a longtime supporter of the students of the Rockland Center. 100% of the funds awarded to our Center goes to students facing financial hardships; hardships that might otherwise derail their pathway toward college completion. Thank you to the UMC board members, staff, and funders. Your efforts make a difference!
