STREAMING HEADLINES
Prices Increasing for Subscribers
to Apple TV+, Philo, and MGM+

FAQ - Download Images to View If you subscribe to any of these streaming services, get ready to pay more for entertainment:
  • Apple TV+ is raising its price from $10 per month to $13 in the U.S. The streamer last raised prices nearly two years ago. Apple TV+ has set itself apart from the competition by focusing on original content — such as Ted Lasso and The Morning Show, but the high cost of creating that content is one reason for the 30% price hike.

  • Philo announced price increase for grandfathered legacy customers. Legacy plans will increase to $25 per month, plus applicable taxes, starting October 8th, 2025. Philo is the affordable live TV streaming service known for its simplicity and customer-focused approach. This marks the end of Philo's long-standing commitment to never increasing prices for existing customers. To add value, Philo is including a one-year unlimited DVR feature with these plans, allowing subscribers to record and store their favorite shows for up to a year.

  • MGM+ will increase its annual subscription price by $3 on renewals on or after October 1st, 2025. This is the second straight year MGM+ has raised its yearly fee, following a much larger jump in 2024 when the cost soared from $49.99 to $58.99. With the upcoming price increase, the annual subscription will rise from $58.99 to $61.99 on renewals.
This may be a good time to reevaluate how much you use each of your streaming subscriptions and make adjustments if needed.

Image from Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, and Shrek Forever After - Click for Available Trailer

Shrek, Shrek 2, Shrek the Third, and Shrek Forever After PG — The fun began in 2001, when the original Shrek premiered in theaters. In a faraway swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek whose precious solitude is suddenly shattered by an invasion of annoying fairy tale characters — all banished from their kingdom by the evil Lord Farquaad. The cast included Mike Meyers, Eddie Murphy, John Lithgow, and Cameron Diaz.

Now you can stream the original film, plus the three that followed it, for a very Shrek-y movie marathon. In Shrek 2 (2004), Shrek and his bride Fiona learn that her parents are unaware of the curse that struck their daughter and have assumed she married Prince Charming, not a 700-pound ogre with horrible hygiene. In Shrek the Third (2010), word arrives that the Shrek's froggy father-in-law is about to croak, and the last thing Shrek wants is to become King. Then in Shrek Forever After (2010), Shrek is long-settled into married life and fully domesticated, but begins to long for the days when he felt like a real ogre. (Netflix, September 1st Premiere)
