Established in 1989, Texas CASA is the statewide membership association for all local CASA programs. We support the local CASA programs with training, community awareness, resources, grant administration and public policy to make a positive difference in the lives of children and families in Texas.
This year was an exciting year of challenges and opportunities. Our Public Policy team returned to the Texas Capitol and remained strong in our network-wide advocacy on behalf of children and families experiencing foster care. We championed Senate Bill 2165 so a child’s case can no longer be dismissed while a child is missing or has run away and advocated for strengthened oversight of Community-Based Care to give communities a formal voice in the process. There’s so much more that we accomplished in front of and behind the scenes, and we are excited to move forward as an empowered and united CASA network.

Local Program Spotlight: Lone Star CASA
Recently, Lone Star CASA had the joy of celebrating the adoption of 17-year-old Lilo at the Grayson County Courthouse. Lilo's journey through foster care is one of extraordinary resilience, healing and hope. After surviving trauma in her early life, Lilo entered foster care at just four years old. While in foster care, Lilo experienced placement in more than 24 homes.
Irene became Lilo's CASA volunteer in October 2021. After Irene stepped in, Lilo felt like she could finally start to trust again and believe in the possibility of a brighter future. Irene was a steady and reliable presence throughout Lilo's journey, ensuring her voice was heard and that each small milestone was celebrated. Texas CASA Hosts Local Program Directors for Leadership Training
Last month, 19 program directors from 18 local CASA programs came together at the Texas CASA office for a two-day, in-person training focused on leadership, connection and shared learning. Participants had dedicated time to learn from one another, reflect on challenges and draw from the collective wisdom in the room. Many shared that the opportunity to engage with peers was one of the most valuable parts of the experience. Directors left with new ideas, practical tools and resources to bring back to their programs, all with the shared goal of strengthening advocacy for children and families.

Thanks to the generosity of donors who give through their employers, our impact continues to grow! Employer-sponsored giving programs, like matching gifts and payroll deductions, help amplify generosity and make an even greater impact on the work we do for the CASA network and Texas children and families in the foster care system.
Many companies can match donations made by their employees, retirees and employee spouses, doubling the value of their gift. To see if your employer participates, you can use the company search tool on our website to check! Federal and Texas state employees can also give using payroll deduction campaigns. See more details at the link below.
However you choose to give, your support truly makes a difference, and we’re thankful to be part of your generosity!
