Explaining the dramatic box office results of the most recent Star Wars movie, one expert observed, "The studios finally seem to be remembering, after years of over-reliance on visual effects, that moviegoers like a story. It can be a story we are familiar with. It can be a serialized story. But give us, please, we're begging you, a story of some kind."
Do you love a great story? I do! A young Zambian student at Truett Seminary tells about his wrongful imprisonment, captivity in prison, and deliverance. In prison, he saved the life of the man who had committed the crime that landed him in prison. When the other man recovered, he told the truth and Mulenga was set free. Now he is studying to get his Master’s Degree to serve in ministry. What is your story?
Paul returned to Jerusalem after ministering to the Gentiles. Others had warned him not to go up to Jerusalem. But when he arrived, he tried to assuage the feelings of those who were angry at him. It did not work. They formed a riot to arrest him for “preaching against Judaism.” He turned to tell the story of God’s miraculous intervention on the road to Damascus. God opened his eyes giving him physical and spiritual sight.
In Christ we have all received a gift of grace. He has opened our eyes, and set us free. Have you ever told the story of how God made himself known to you? Be ready. You never know when you will get your chance. Remember the song, “This is my story. This is my song. Praising my Savior, all the day long.”
