Class of 2022 – Welcome to the Dollars4College newsletter. Now is a great time, if you have not already, to begin looking for scholarships and exploring colleges. The Dollars4College will be a great resource as you do this. You have been signed up to receive the newsletter and will receive future issues. All seniors should make sure they have submitted the following applications -
- Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) - After submitting your application see below for what different FAFSA statuses mean and action you should take.
- CSS Profile- Only some colleges require the CSS Profile, but those that require will not award financial aid without it. Click here for a list of colleges that require it.
- DC Tuition Assistance Grant (DC-TAG) – The application opened February 1 and early submission is encouraged.

The DCPS Dual Enrollment Program with the private universities for the 2021-2022 school year application period will open on March 8th and will close on April 30th. The College Prep team will be hosting 2 information sessions in March and two in April for those who would like more information. For now, please visit the DCPS Dual Enrollment Website for more information. Participating universities are American University: School of Education, Catholic University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, and Howard University.
OSSE operates a separate Dual Enrollment Program and has a summer program for current 10th and 11th graders. The application period opens March 1st and will close March 12th. Please visit the application link to apply. Participating universities for the summer are Marymount University, Montgomery College, Trinity Washington University, and UDC. Information for their fall 2021 school year application is forthcoming and the application period begins in April.

- Meg Graham Scholarship
Closing Date: March 5 Amount: $10,000 GPA Requirement: 3.0 Description: The scholarship is available to graduating seniors living in DC, attending a DC public, private, parochial or charter school and matriculating to an accredited four-year college or university. The scholarship rewards a student who has demonstrated outstanding voluntarism with funds for college education expenses. - FCAC Scholarship Program
Closing Date: March 5 Amount: TBA GPA Requirement: N/A Description: TheFCAC Scholarship Program provides financial assistance to African-American, District of Columbia high school (public, private, or charter) students in the pursuit of a baccalaureate degree. Applicants must be DC residents. - DNT Fitness 2021 Scholarship Program
Closing Date: March 18 Amount: Up to $1,000 GPA Requirement: N/A Description: Scholarship is open to United States citizens attending a Prince George’s County, Charles County, or District of Columbia high school; or reside in the DMV metropolitan area (within a 25 mile radius of the US Capitol, Washington, DC). Applicant must be a high school senior graduating in Spring 2021 who is planning to attend (as a full-time student) an accredited four (4) year institution of higher learning, an accredited Community College, or an accredited Trade School in the United States in the upcoming academic year (Fall 2021). - North Carolina A&T Alumni Association Scholarship
Closing Date: March 20 Amount: Varies (at least $2,500 will be awarded in scholarship(s)) GPA Requirement: 3.0 Testing Requirement: 900 on the SAT or 19 on the ACT Description: Scholarship will be offered to US Citizens who are DC Residents and incoming full-time students at North Carolina A&T. Applicants are required to show a copy of their acceptance letter from North Carolina A&T. - The Ivy Foundation Scholarships
Closing Date: March 30 Amount: Up to $2,500 GPA Requirement: 3.0 Description: Multiple different scholarships available for DC Public School and Charter School seniors who will be attending an accredited, four-year college or university. - DC Alumni Chapter of Savannah State University
Closing Date: March 31 Amount: Up to $2,000 GPA Requirement: C+ Average Description: This scholarship is provided annually to deserving graduating high school seniors and college students residing in the Metro Washington, DC area, in need of financial assistance to attend Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia.
- Esperanza Scholarship
Closing Date: April 1 Amount: $5,000 to $20,000 (split over years of college) GPA Requirement: 3.0 is encouraged but no officially requirement Description: Applicants must be a graduating senior at a high school in DC, MD or VA who was born outside the U.S. or has two parents born outside the U.S. Applicant must be planning to enroll full-time at an accredited public college or university in the academic year the award is offered and must have a family income of less than $100,000 in 2020.
- D.C. Area Phi Beta Kappa (PBK) Association
Closing Date: April 10 Amount: $1,000 GPA Requirment: 3.5 Description: D.C. PBK will present the scholarship to four students who display interest in the liberal arts and sciences, love of learning, and civic responsibility. Applicants must be a high school senior living in the Washington, DC area. - Federal Water Quality Association
Closing Date: April 12 Amount: $2,000 GPA Requirment: N/A Description: Scholarship is open to graduating seniors from high schools in the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area and surrounding counties, planning to pursue environmental careers. (You must be accepted prior to receiving the award, into a 4-year bachelor’s program in an acceptable field of study by an institution of higher learning). Acceptable areas of study: environmental sciences, environmental engineering, civil engineering, biology, chemistry, chemical engineering, or natural resource planning – other areas of the environment will also be considered.
- Florence Easley Building a Brighter Future Scholarship
Closing Date: April 30 Amount: $2,000 (students may reapply each year that they remain eligible) GPA Requirement: 2.5 Description: Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen who have a permanent home address in Washington, DC, be a graduating college bound high school senior (or currently enrolled at a college, university or trade school pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree).
- Lamond-Riggs Citizens Association, Inc. Scholarship
Closing Date: April 30 Amount: Up to $1,000 GPA Requirement: 2.5 Description: LRCA will award three (3) Academic Excellence Scholarships to eligible high school graduating seniors residing within the LRCA boundaries (see scholarship packet for a map), who will attend an accredited two or four - year college or university. - Ira Dorsey Scholarship
Closing Date: May 1 Amount: 2,000 GPA Requirement: 2.5 Description: Scholarship is open to male high school seniors who live within the Greater Washington DC Metropolitan area (Virginia, DC, Maryland) and plan to attend a four-year college or university. - WDCAF Thelma M. Randall Scholarship
Closing Date: May 1 Amount: $1,000 GPA Requirement: N/A Description: WDCAF will award two Academic Excellence Scholarships to eligible high school graduating seniors residing within the District of Columbia, who will attend Prairie View A&M University or another Historically Black College or University (HBCU). - Charles B. Walker Culture Club
Closing Date: May 10 Amount: $1,000 GPA Requirement: N/A Description: Scholarship is open to high school seniors or a GED recipient from the District of Columbia, Virginia or Maryland who have been accepted by a higher education institution for the Fall of 2021. - Herb Block Scholarship
Closing Date: June 1 Amount: $8,000 per academic year and up to $16,000 over the life of the scholarship GPA Requirement: N/A Description: Scholarship is open to DMV area residents who are attending or plan to attend on a full or part time basis UDC Community College, Montgomery College, Northern Virginia Community College or PG Community College and are US Citizens/nationals, Permanent Resident Aliens or DACA recipients (if undocumented contact organization to inquire about eligibility). Applicant must have financial need and have not earned more than 40 credits.

- Bristol Myers Squibb Scholarship
Closing Date: April 1 Amount: $10,000 GPA Requirement: 3.5 Description: Scholarship is open to cancer survivors who are under the age of 25 and high school seniors, graduates or current post-secondary undergraduates. Applicants must plan to enroll in full-time undergraduate study at an accredited two-or four-year college.
- Bowties and Books Scholarship
Closing Date: April 13 Amount: $2,500 GPA Requirement: 3.0 Description: Applicants must be a high school senior on track to graduate or a college student enrolled in an accredited four-year university/college, or currently enrolled in a two-year college and planning to transfer to a four-year university/college upon completion. Applicants must also be a U.S. Citizen or hold Permanent Residency status. DACA recipients are welcome to apply.
- Ruby’s Rainbow Scholarship
Closing Date: April 18 Amount: up to $10,000 GPA Requirement: N/A Description: Scholarships are open to individuals with Down Syndrome who are 18 years of age or older and have a desire and intent to enroll or continue enrollment in a class or program that will enhance their life through employment, independent living or life skills, or interest in any other areas.
- All About Education Scholarship
Closing Date: April 30 Amount: $3,000 GPA Requirement: N/A Description: Scholarship is open to students 13 years of age or older who are legal residents of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia and are currently enrolled (or will enroll no later than the fall of 2026) in an accredited post-secondary institution of higher education. Applicant will need to submit a short response to a given prompt. - AMVETS’ Scholarships
Closing Date: April 30 Amount: $4,000 GPA Requirement: 3.0 (see note on website about 2.5-2.9 GPA) Description: Scholarship is open to current high school seniors who are veterans, or active duty military members, spouses, children or grandchildren of veterans or active duty military members.
