Air Malta Decide on the Boeing Alertness Model

Air Malta, proudly connecting Malta with over 35 major cities across Europe and the Mediterranean, has decided to use the Boeing Alertness Model (BAM), through the Concert platform, for their fatigue risk management system.
"BAM provides us with very powerful assessment capabilities producing the objective metrics we need for supplementing our fatigue risk assessments", says Captain Alexander Muscat, Chief Officer Flight Operations, at Air Malta. "Using validated science and sound metrics, side by side with our own operational feedback, is essential for systematic improvements", he adds.
"We are delighted Air Malta is putting trust in our FRM solutions, and look forward to serving them over many years to come", says Margarita Jiménez Vidal, Flight Operations Sales Director.
The Boeing Alertness Model is designed to empower any crew management process, and can be connected and used in a multitude of ways. Please find more information about BAM capabilities in these documents:

The Nobel Prize Awarded Research on the Circadian Rhythm!

The 2017 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded jointly to Jeffrey C. Hall, Michael Rosbash and Michael W. Young for their discoveries of molecular mechanisms that control circadian rhythms.

Circadian rhythms are driven by an internal biological clock that anticipates day/night cycles to optimize the physiology and behavior of organisms. Observations that organisms adapt their physiology and behavior to the time of the day in a circadian fashion have been documented for a long time, but the existence of an endogenous circadian clock would only finally become established well into the 20th century. In 1971... (please read more here).
