Summer Camp

From the Camp Director,

Every year we are able to help offset the cost of camp with scholarships. We are so thankful for the churches that help pay a portion of camp for young people. But, we have kids that want to come to camp who are not a part of our supporting churches, or any church, that hear about Hanging Rock through their friends and they also need help with coming to camp. Last year we gave 64 scholarships totaling over $11,000.
We will be having our pancake breakfast this month to help support that fund and also we have the Central Indiana Men's Fellowship, Vermillion County Society of Churches and the WCEA all supporting our scholarship fund. We really need more partners to be able to offer an opportunity for kids to be able to come to camp and hear that Christ loves them and wants a relationship with them. If you can partner with us please donate below.

From the Maintenance Director,

This is Ben Hannum here, the new Maintenance Director at Hanging Rock.  I’m humbled to have the opportunity to serve God here and to serve all of you who come to seek God at HRCA.  It’s been a whirlwind of a month getting to know the Hanging Rock staff.  They are showing me the ropes and teaching me new things every day.  Thank you Staff!

I’d like to give a big shout out to Tom Lloyd for getting me situated at the Waste Treatment Plant and his willingness to share his knowledge about the camp.  Thanks Tom!  I appreciate it and plan on picking your brain a lot in the future. 😊

One thing I’m learning more and more is that maintaining the camp is not a one man job; it takes all kinds of people to make this place run and look good.  We have a Work Day scheduled for May 2, 2020, but there are plenty of things that need done before that date.  If you have experience in plumbing, electrical, mechanical and carpentry, we have opportunities for you to serve here at camp.  Just shoot me a line via email at benhannum@hangingrock.org.  I’d love to talk with you and find ways for you to serve here at camp with your gifts.

If you do not have any of the experience in the fields above but have other gifts you want to use here at camp, please email.  Maybe you love to paint or landscape!  Whatever your gift is, we would like to see you put it to good use.  There are lots of opportunities and jobs that can be done by people of all ages and skill levels here at Hanging Rock.  Thanks for your willingness to serve God here at camp!

Last but not least, I’d like to invite all our youth ministers to Hanging Rock on the third Thursday of every month for a Youth Minister Retreat!  We meet at 10 a.m. in the dining hall by the fireplace.  We give you a couple hours to have quiet time and rest in the Scriptures.  After that we eat!  This is a time to get away and spend time with God.  Please come out and if you have any questions, feel free to call or email me!

I’m looking forward to meeting all of you over the course of the next year!  I hope that when you come to camp, you find God.  This is all for Him!

House of Adam Bathrooms Update:

We are so excited to be able to update the bathrooms in the House of Adam. Some of the Ladies from the Ladies Overnight were able to stay in the dorm and have VERY nice bathrooms. All 4 bathrooms will be finished by the end of this month and ready for use. We are already getting so many compliments about the upgrade. We know all those that come to camp this summer will enjoy these bathrooms. We want to thank all those who donated to this project! Another project completed debt free. Praise the Lord!!

House of Eve Bathrooms

We are needing to raise $40,000 this year to do the bathrooms for the House of Eve. We have planned a couple of good fundraisers to help raise money for this project. We will, for the 3rd time, be having the Paddle the Wabash. Visit this website to learn how you can Paddle the Wabash in a 14 passenger voyager canoe. https://paddlethewabashhrca.myevent.com/
We will also have a golf scramble at River Crest Golf Course to raise some money for the bathrooms as well. We will be sending registration forms for the golf scramble to the churches and they will also be available on our website under events.
Great is Thy Faithfulness Campaign

For over 74 years we have seen God and His people serve & give faithfully to this ministry.

We have had some great growth over that last several years. This past summer we reached our largest summer season ever in the history of Hanging Rock with 2,086 campers. We averaged over 200 every week and in some weeks we went over 300. With a dining hall that only seats 160 and that is being generous. In the next 3 years we are going to start addressing some issues with our current dining hall and work on building a dining hall extension to increase the seating capacity to 300. We also have some work to do in our Hilton with bathrooms and flooring, the canteen roof, the shop roof,  the exterior of the office building and flooring in the LDC (Gym).

We are going to be seeking a two year financial committment to help make this a reality.
We will be sharing more about this in the future. Please just keep us in your prayers and continue your faithfulness.

GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS!
