Workday is Coming to LMU! All You Need to Know

Exciting changes are coming to the bluff this June as LMU transitions to Workday for all of its HR and financial needs. As the premier cloud-based HR and finance application, and the first system specifically built for higher education, Workday’s user-friendly interface and flexibility across desktop and mobile platforms make it the obvious choice to replace LMU’s 23-year-old software systems. What’s Changing?

On June 27, all of LMU’s various and disconnected software platforms related to HR and financial processes will be terminated and replaced with the singular Workday system. This includes the following platforms, which will no longer be operable after June 27:

MyTime
Concur
Oracle E-Business Suite
jobs.lmu.edu
PeopleAdmin

What Does This Mean for You?

By consolidating these disconnected systems into one Workday, processes will be streamlined – resulting in greater transparency, ease of use, and ultimately time saved. Some of these improvements include:

Timesheets: Exempt (salaried) employees will no longer need to enter weekly hours.

Grants: Principal investigators will have direct access to grant data, as well as tools for tracking funds, reporting deadlines, and other post-award requirements.

HR forms: No more paper! All forms and processes will be organized in a central (and digital) dashboard. In one place, you can:

View paystubs and view/change your withholdings
Request time off and view your PTO/sick balances
Change benefit allocations o Update direct deposit info
Update your dependents and emergency contacts

Financial Processes: All financial processes (including creating and submitting invoices, expense reports, spend authorizations, and more) will be managed through Workday.

How Can You Prepare for Workday?

Keep an eye on your email. Throughout the spring, you’ll be invited to training sessions, Q&A forums, and receive links to job aides and resource guides, to help make the transition to Workday a smooth one.
Bookmark lmu.edu/workday, the home of all news and resources related to the Workday transition. FAQs, training materials, and other support pieces will be populated throughout the spring, for your Workday education.
Keep an open mind. While any organizational change requires some adaptation and flexibility, Workday’s platform will enable greater self-empowerment, provide clarity, and ultimately simplify the work for all LMU staff and faculty members.

Workday’s arrival at LMU has involved nearly 400 colleagues from across the university, 18 months’ duration, and untold work-hours devoted to customizing and implementing a platform that is fully customized to meet LMU’s diverse needs. Through these dedicated efforts, the LMU community will see a Workday that fully reflects the university’s growing prominence as a leader in its field, with a state-of-the-art system that propels LMU forward.
