October 2021 Update
Penn Community Re-Engineering Project
The Penn Community Re-Engineering Project includes a phased re-engineering of Penn’s core IAM infrastructure, replacing decades-old, custom-built identity management systems and processes with a standards-based, modern solution to strengthen Penn’s overall security posture and ability to comply with emerging global regulatory requirements.
Phase 1 Rollout – November 12-15, 2021
Phase 1 rollout is scheduled for November 12-15, 2021 and includes the implementation of SailPoint Identity IQ (IIQ) as the underlying identity engine for Penn Community. During this transition, EntryView (manual entry and PennKey setup code support) will be unavailable from the close of business on Friday, November 12, 2021 at 5:00 PM through Monday, November 15, 2021 at 8:00 AM. Please note the following:
  • Users who process new hires in Workday will not receive PennIDs in near-real time for new hires over the go-live weekend.
  • Automated processes from all sources that send data to Penn Community on weekends will not operate; specifically, source systems will not be able to obtain PennIDs for new records over this weekend, nor will any PennKey processing for new hires occur.
  • Persistent Bulk Load user access will be deactivated. Starting Monday, November 15, 2021, the Penn Community support team will handle persistent bulk requests until the new, improved service is available on the new SailPoint IIQ platform (mid-2022).
Outages During Transition Weekend
During the transition weekend, users may experience brief outages for the following as code changes are deployed:
  • Penn Community/Penn Directory database – Direct SQL access and web services
  • Penn Directory application – Directory listings/search
  • Grouper/LDAP/PennNames/PennKey apps – Data will be static from 9:00 PM Friday, November 12 until rollout is complete
We appreciate your patience during the Penn Community transition.
