Send us your favorite photos from the semester! |
We want your photos. At the end of every term, we make a short video celebrating the completion of another semester, and we include all of the pictures our students share with us. We especially love photos of you and your classmates in class, exploring Chicago, at class parties, and having fun with your teachers. Please send us any photos that you took this semester for us to share in the Tutorium End-of-Session video. You can send the photos to us at tutorium@uic.edu. You can also tag #tieuic in your photos on Facebook and Instagram so we can find and share your memories.
View past End of Session videos on the Tutorium YouTube channel.

Are you studying with us in the fall? Did you know that TIE students may audit courses with no fee, as long as they receive approval from the college offering the course and collect the required signatures on the audit form. The time frame for getting permission and signing up is short and is at the beginning of each semester. So you should make your plans now and be ready to work on the paperwork as soon as class starts in the fall.Â
You can find the form, along with more info on auditing, here: https://registrar.uic.edu/registration/audit/. You would register as a non-degree undergraduate student. Paperwork must be completed before the last day of late registration and cannot be done before the first day of instruction.

How can you continue learning and improving your English skills even after studying at the Tutorium? The secret is taking risks and remembering that life, even language learning, is one big adventure. Here are a few tips to take with you on your language learning journey.Â
|
|
|
- Leave your comfort zone: You are in a different country, one of the biggest cities in the USA! This is your chance to spend time exploring and being independent! You will also grow as a person and be stronger and smarter!
-
Go to cheap or FREE events right on campus. Click here or here to check UIC’s events.
-
Invite a classmate or a neighbor for coffee or lunch. Think of people as potential friends, possibly for life.
- Take a world food tour: Chicago has a plethora of eating options from all over the world!

|
|
Next time you think or say, “I have never done that before!” consider it an opportunity to do something new, not as a reason not to do it.

Choosing the best career and major for you |
|
|
When people choose the focus of their education, the goal is to set a strong foundation for their lives. We usually choose our fields for two reasons: to find a job (occupation) with decent pay and to work at something we are interested in. Unfortunately, we often choose without knowing all of the possible choices! We usually only know the kinds of jobs that our parents, relatives, and friends have. Â
To increase your knowledge of types of jobs, you can just look at this website for occupations in the USA. Home: Occupational Outlook HandbookÂ
Occupations = jobs or types of jobs. Outlook = predictions about those jobs.
Look at how you can search, sort, and look at jobs!
