The NYU Department of Campus Safety recently received two reports of Motor Vehicle Thefts involving electric scooters. These incidents occurred in Schwartz Plaza, in Manhattan.
The first incident occurred yesterday, October 16th. A student reported that at 3:00 p.m. they locked their e-scooter at the Schwartz Plaza bike racks. When they returned at around 9:05 p.m., their lock and e-scooter were gone.
The second incident occurred on Wednesday, October 11th. A student reported that at 3:00 p.m. they locked their e-scooter at the Schwartz Plaza bike racks. When they returned around 9:00 p.m., the e-scooter was gone.
These two incidents are the latest in a string of e-bike and e-scooter thefts this semester occuring at various locations around Manhattan including Schwartz Plaza, the Paulson Center, Washington Square Village and the Tisch Bike Racks. While the Department of Campus Safety has increased patrol of these areas and continues to work with the police to provide additional safety measures, we encourage the NYU community to remain vigilant and follow the Safety Tips below and

Description of Reported Offenders:
There is currently no description of the suspect from yesterday's e-scooter theft. However, a camera review of the second incident shows that the second suspect is male-presenting with a dark complexion, dark hair, a gray goatee and was wearing a black baseball hat with white stripes, a gray hooded sweatshit, green-and-white camouflage pants and white sneakers.
At this time, it is not believed that the two suspects are the same.
