First, Perkins funding requests for CTE projects and initiatives that you would like to implement in school year 2021-2022 are due this Friday, April 2. Use this link to submit your requests.
Secondly, nominations for "Industry Partner of the Year" are due TOMORROW! Use this form to submit a name of a professional or company who has been an extraordinary partner this year. Soft Skills Training - FREE

Do you have students who are well on their way to developing technical, job-specific skills, but could use some soft skill development?
If you have students who need to practice their soft skills, this could be a beneficial, free tool. Express Employment Professionals has a soft skills curriculum that is 100% free with videos (you can download them from the website or find them on YouTube), resources, and handouts.
Soft skills include interpersonal (people) skills, communication skills, listening skills, time management, and empathy, among others. Hiring managers typically look for job candidates with soft skills because they make employees more successful in the workplace.

"Emptying the Warehouse" Could Equal FREE Equipment for your Schools CTE Programs!

Explore The Trades, a St. Paul-based nonprofit focused on bridging the technical talent gap in the service trades, and NexTech Academy, a comprehensive, online technical training program for HVAC, electrical and plumbing technicians, have partnered to “empty the warehouse” to benefit plumbing, heating, cooling and electrical classrooms throughout Minnesota.

All Minnesota high schools that have existing plumbing, HVAC and electrical classes – or those looking to start such classes – are invited to review the program. Further details about the equipment will be announced after April 1, 2021. All equipment was used by NexTech Academy during creation of the curriculum and is no longer needed. All equipment is in excellent shape and was only used for demonstration purposes.

For more information about the project, please contact Kate Cinnamo, executive director of Explore The Trades, at katec@explorethetrades.org or 651-789-8518. Applications are open from April 5-30th.
Pencil This In: May 14
On Friday, May 14 (7:30-8:30 a.m.) Southeast Service Cooperative and the Career Navigator team will be hosting a Business and Community Partner Celebration to recognize the business and community members who are graciously volunteering their time and talents to help our students with career exploration activities.
These activities include career fair presenter, job shadow host, informational interviews, guest classroom speaker, as well as many other roles. The support from these partnerships is incredibly valuable to our students and schools, and we are excited to be able to express our gratitude, and share some of the enormous impact that partners are having across SE Minnesota schools.
I will be reaching out later this month with more information about this event, and please be sure to turn in your school's nominee for "Community or Industry Partner of the Year" by March 26.
