Texas A&M University Corps of Cadets
Howdy! 
The past two weeks have been very exciting here in the Corps!
Two of our special units - the Fish Drill Team and the Ross Volunteers - traveled to New Orleans to participate in Mardi Gras festivities. The class of 2026 returned to Aggieland with the Fish Drill Team’s 13th consecutive national title, and the Ross Volunteers kept a long standing tradition alive by marching as the honor guard in the King of Mardi Gras’ parade. Additional details on those trips can be found below.  
Our Corps athletics teams also continue to dominate the competition! The Corps men’s basketball team returned from Houston this week after defeating Lone Star College. We recently had cadets run in the Austin Marathon, where they had very impressive showings. Of these cadets, Will Massey ‘25 qualified for the Boston Marathon with a run time of 2:59:45. 
These efforts and involvements in our Corps athletics teams are a great opportunity for our cadets to pursue their passions at the collegiate level, and I am proud to see them succeeding along the way.
In the first collaboration of its kind, the Corps of Cadets partnered with Aggie Baseball on custom, Corps-inspired jerseys. The baseball team debuted these jerseys on Sunday at the Corps of Cadets appreciation game. More details on this exciting partnership can be found later on in this newsletter.
This weekend, our cadets from across the Quad will compete this weekend in the annual Cadet Challenge. This friendly competition allows cadets to highlight their physical abilities and compete against other units in the Corps. Our next newsletter will share results and photos from this event, so be sure to keep an eye out!
I’d like to thank you for your involvement in your cadet’s journey. The continued support and encouragement you provide to your cadet as they participate in opportunities like these ensures they are making the most of their time in the Corps. I am very proud of each of them, and I look forward to helping them finish this semester strong!

Fish Drill Team Claims 13th National Title In New Orleans

For the 13th consecutive year, the Fish Drill Team has claimed the national title at Tulane University’s NROTC Mardi Gras Drill Meet, edging out teams from the United States Military Academy and Norwich University. 

This prestigious event hosts drill teams from across the country, most of which are primarily comprised of upperclassmen, while the Fish Drill Team is made up entirely of freshman cadets. 

This success comes as a result of months of intense training for the Fish Drill Team. We are very proud of the class of 2026 and their advisors for their dedication to excellence on the national stage. They have served as excellent representatives of Texas A&M and the Corps of Cadets, and we look forward to celebrating the success of the Fish Drill Team for many years to come.

Ross Volunteers March In King Rex Parade

The Ross Volunteers also made an appearance in New Orleans! For over 70 years, the Ross Volunteers have served as the honor guard for the King of Mardi Gras, King Rex, leading the crew’s parade during Mardi Gras.

We are very proud of these cadets and their involvement in this tradition. It is always a pleasure to see our organization represented around the country, and the Ross Volunteers have certainly made us proud in their efforts.

We look forward to seeing them return to New Orleans next year!

Aggie Baseball Collaborates With Corps of Cadets

In a month’s long process and collaboration with Coach Schlossnagle and the Aggie Baseball team, the Corps of Cadets was able to assist in the design of baseball uniforms that closely resemble our cadet’s bravos uniforms.
Last Sunday served as the Corps of Cadets appreciation game, where the uniforms made their debut in Aggie Baseball's 5-4 walk off win against Portland. Our cadets, both former and current, proudly supported the team from the stands, and most definitely played a role in the exciting win.
Last fall, Aggie Baseball visited the Quad for evening formation and chow at Duncan. During this visit, each player was assigned to a unit. These assignments formed bonds between each player and their designated outfit with many outfits keeping in touch with their players. Each player’s jersey featured their designated outfit’s logo on one sleeve and the same AMU patch that our cadets wear on the other. Our cadets followed their players closely, and were sure to show their support each time they stepped up to the plate. 
The team also wore custom designed brown cleats and matching socks, echoing the iconic look of our senior boots. To match the look of the senior boots, each player also wore the same white belt that our upperclassmen cadets wear. For more information on the details of these uniforms, visit here. 
To see Aggie baseball embody the spirit of the Corps of Cadets in such a visible way was very exciting. The Corps of Cadets is an organization with core values that are worth emulating, and we are glad to have partnered with Aggie Baseball. Both of our organizations are rooted in a tradition of excellence, and we look forward to seeing these uniforms return to the field throughout the season. This partnership has brought together two of Texas A&M’s most time honored traditions, and we look forward to building and strengthening our relationship with the baseball team for many years to come.

Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders Meet With Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band


Last week, the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band received a special visit from the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders. The team made the trip to Aggieland to participate in a cadet-led career readiness event that focused on the value of leadership, hard work and tradition. Cadets heard from seven cheerleaders and the Cowboys Cheerleaders’ coaching staff who drew similarities between the two iconic groups.

Equestrian Team Visits The Quad

Last week, the Corps of Cadets proudly hosted members of the Texas A&M Equestrian Team during evening formation and chow at Duncan. Our cadets were excited to show the team what daily life in the Corps looks like, and what is expected of them as members of our organization. 
It’s important for our cadets to visit with other leaders on campus and we look forward to hosting the equestrian team again in the years to come. As the oldest student organization on campus, it is vital that the Corps stays personally connected to those at the university we love the most.

Cadet Feature: Katie Humphreys ‘23


Katie Humphreys ‘23 is a Political Science major from Houston, Texas. Currently a member of Company A-1, Katie serves as the outfit’s Executive Officer. 
On the Quad, Katie is involved in Rudder’s Rangers, where she has been a member since her freshman year. Katie is also a member of the O.R. Simpson Honor Society, where she serves as an academic mentor and resource to her peers.
In 2021, Katie attended and graduated from Air Assault school at Fort Campbell, KY. In 2022,  she attended Cadet Summer Training and graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate, and was ranked within the top 10% in the nation. 
After graduation, Katie plans to commission into the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant, where she will serve as a Military Intelligence Officer.
We are extremely proud of Katie and her representation of the Corps of Cadets. She is a true leader, and we know that her future will be filled with continued success.
